About This Pub

Ah, The Queen's Head – it's one of those places that really stands out for me as a great spot to pop into after a day out. You've got this fantastic mix of a traditional English pub on the outside, but step inside and it's all about that contemporary feel with comfy seating and a warm atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The food is a real highlight; I'm talking about those enormous Sunday roasts with loads of veg and sauces, or the pies and pizzas that are packed with flavour and won't break the bank. The team behind the bar are always cheerful and on point with service, even when things are buzzing. Plus, with live music kicking off every Saturday and sports on the screens, it's spot on for a bit of entertainment. On the flip side, it does fill up quickly, so you might find yourself queuing or needing to book, and if you're after that quintessential rustic pub charm, the modern decor could be a tad disappointing. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good meal and a chat – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that friendly vibe that keeps you coming back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and provide quick, attentive service that makes you feel right at home.
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with generous portions of tasty dishes like those massive Sunday roasts and hearty pies – it's all well-cooked and great value for money.
  • It's got a lovely modern vibe inside, blending contemporary furniture with a cosy, comfortable setting that's a refreshing take on the traditional pub.
  • Live music every Saturday night adds a fun buzz, and they've got big screens showing sports, so it's brilliant for catching the game with friends.
  • They've got a handy loyalty scheme that helps you save on drinks and food, making it even more appealing for regular visits.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially on weekends with the live entertainment, so you might need to plan ahead or wait for a table.
  • The contemporary decor might not suit everyone who prefers a more classic, old-fashioned pub atmosphere – it's a bit of a modern twist that could feel unexpected.

This is quite an interesting place; from the outside, it might lead you to believe it is a traditional pub, but inside, it has a much more contemporary vibe, with modern choices of furniture and decoration. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast even though they were still quite busy after an initial evening rush.. They have a really good selection of drinks and an interesting menu. We decided to go with the fish and were impressed with the size and presentation of the food; I considered it great value for money. The beer batter was exactly right with a firm crunch to it; the fish inside was moist and tasty. The chips had a great texture with a fluffy inside. Both cooked to perfection. The pub is clearly popular with both locals and visitors. It has a decent sized car park and an external drinking area suitable for those warm summer nights. Highly recommended!

Went for a Sunday roast, table of 8 and was excellent. Very large portion and selection of veg and sauces. Gravy float was the largest I’ve seen! Decent selection for beer and wine also. All in all, highly recommend, 5 ⭐

This must be the best and biggest Sunday roast ever that I’ve had from a pub. Friendly and happy staff. Great Atmosphere, we really enjoyed our evening. We wanted dessert, but just didn’t have any room for it.
