About This Pub

Ah, The Queens Head in Wellingborough really hits the spot for a relaxed evening out – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and the food is an absolute winner, especially those burgers and chips that people can't stop talking about. Pair that with a solid drink selection and fun extras like dartboards and sports on the screens, and you've got a place that's perfect for unwinding with friends or catching the match. On the downside, it's worth keeping an eye on the opening times because things can be a tad inconsistent, and it does get packed when it's popular, which might mean a bit of a wait. Still, with such high praise from so many, it's a solid choice if you're after a genuine, no-fuss pub experience – just pop in when it's quieter for the best of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • The food is spot-on, with standout burgers and chips that folks rave about – perfect for a hearty meal.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including real ale and exciting offers, so there's always something to suit your taste.
  • It's got that proper traditional pub atmosphere with real character, complete with a dartboard, pool table, and a beer garden for chilling out.
  • The HD screens showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports make it a brilliant spot for watching the game with a pint in hand.
Cons
  • The operating status can seem a bit unclear at times, so it's wise to check before heading out to avoid any disappointment.
  • It might get quite busy during peak hours, which could mean waiting for a table or a spot at the bar.
  • While the overall vibe is great, the moderate prices might add up if you're planning a big night out.

We visited this evening for BOGOFF burgers and had a chicken burger & a Hogfather burger. My Hogfather burger was the best burger I have had in ages and the chips were awesome, as was the staff service. We normally only do BOGOFF pizza on Monday's but we will be doing more regular BOGOFF Thursday's. 😀...

Just a good proper Pub, which these days outside of large cities is rare, staff always nice and Ronan is a top landlord and it has character that pubs should have and hasn't been sterilised like so many good pubs across the country.

Had a lovely meal out with lovely company (my wife). Both had the festive burger which was cooked nicely. Staff were friendly and for those who find these things important all the covid-19 rules and regs were adhered too. Clean, friendly and nice comfort food to enjoy with a pint. If I was going to be fussy at all the decor is a little dated, but who cares about decor, when you have nice company and good food.
