About This Pub

Ah, the Kingfisher – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you're inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this welcoming atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make you feel safe and included, and the music selection is spot on for a good night of dancing and chatting. I love how they've got extras like pool tables and an outdoor area for when you need a breather, plus those community events add a nice touch, showing they're about more than just pints. On the flip side, though, it's a shame they don't do proper food, just snacks, so you might end up nipping out for a bite elsewhere. And honestly, some of the service can be a bit hit or miss, with stories of staff not quite knowing the ropes, which might leave you waiting a tad longer than you'd like. The steps at the door could be a barrier for some, and it doesn't always buzz with energy early in the evening. Overall, it's a solid 3.9 rating spot that's worth a visit if you're in the area, but go in with realistic expectations for a relaxed, friendly hangout rather than a polished night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic vibe with awesome music, including urban, reggae, and chart hits, plus occasional live music and DJ nights that get everyone up dancing.
  • There's plenty of space for fun activities like pool tables and a dart board, and a nice outdoor area for a smoke or a chat when the weather's good.
  • It's got a community spirit, with events like the men's mental health night that really bring people together and show they care about more than just drinks.
  • Prices are moderate, so you can enjoy a good night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • They only serve bar snacks, no proper meals, which might leave you wanting more if you're after a full pub grub experience.
  • Some staff seem a bit inexperienced, like not knowing how to make certain drinks, which can put a dampener on things.
  • Accessibility isn't great with steps at the entrance, so it might not be the easiest spot for everyone to get to.
  • It can feel a tad quiet or strange early on, especially if it's not busy, and the operating hours seem a bit inconsistent.
  • No website means it's tricky to check details online before heading over.

Love this place, friendly, awesome music and good service. A detailed garden area would popularise this place a bit more I feel

Such a lovely place! The service was amazing, the DJ was great, loads of space to get up and have a dance. I've never felt so safe and welcomed into a pub as I have this one. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! Ps, the bartender needs a raise!

A strange little pub, we arrived on an open mic night which was amusing. The bar sold jugs if cocktails but the girl behind the bar didn't know how to make them, in fact she didn't know how to do anything. The atmosphere was ok but it was early and not very busy. There was a large outside area that obviously just for smokers and was a bit grubby.

They don't serve food, only bar snacks, but a lovely little bar with music and occasionally live music. Two pool tables, dart board and an outside seating area where you can smoke. Also advocate a men's mental health night once a month which is great for the community, staff are really nice and accommodating and drinks promotions are pretty good too.

Nice pub, modernised nicely. Clean fun pub. Music is usually urban, reggae and recent charts, a good mix. Staff are very friendly. Steps on entry not sure about disabled access. But a good night out both nights I have been recently.
