About This Pub

Ah, Olde England 2 – it's one of those pubs that just pulls you in with its charm, you know? I popped in recently and found the staff to be an absolute delight; they're so approachable and make the place feel like a proper local hangout where you can kick back and have a laugh. The drinks are a highlight too – think perfect pints and tasty ciders that go down a treat, especially if you're after something straightforward and well-poured. And let's not forget the beer garden; it's a lovely spot to relax, with that friendly cat adding a bit of whimsy to the evening. It's got this old-school rock vibe as well, perfect for catching a band or just enjoying the atmosphere with friends. On the flip side, though, the interior's looking a bit worn out – it's dark and could do with some TLC to shake off that tired feel. The real ale isn't quite up to scratch anymore, which is a pity because it used to be a real draw. Plus, the landlord seems a bit distracted, propping up the bar with his phone, so it might not be as engaging as you'd hope. All in all, it's a solid spot for a casual night out if you're in the area, but it'd be even better with a few updates to keep the magic alive.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, polite, and they make you feel right at home, like chatting with old mates.
  • You've got to love the drinks; perfect pints and flat ciders that hit the spot, with sparkling clean glasses to boot.
  • The beer garden is a real gem, offering a chilled, relaxed spot with a lovely cat wandering around for that extra touch of warmth.
  • It's got that classic old-school pub vibe, great for enjoying live music or just unwinding with a good crowd.
Cons
  • The inside can feel a bit dark and tired these days, like it needs a fresh coat of paint to liven things up.
  • The real ale quality has slipped a tad, which is a shame because it used to be spot on.
  • The landlord seems more caught up with his phone than mingling, which might leave you wanting a bit more interaction.

The Old England is a great pub, but recently it has lost it's Mojo. Inside it's dark, dank and looking tired. The quality of the real ale is also not what it should be. It used to be great, but now? The landlord is a great guy, but he spends more time proping up the bar watching his phone than interacting with customers. On a quite day it's like sitting in a morgue. Alfie is still in star of the show. Come on Old England, you can do better than this ☺
