About This Pub
Oh, The Punter's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Cambridge, you know? It's got this cheerful, lived-in atmosphere that's full of character, with nooks and crannies that make it feel homely and inviting – though I have to admit, those low ceilings can be a bit of a hazard if you're not careful! The food's really what stands out for me; it's hearty, fresh, and unpretentious, with things like juicy burgers and lamb dishes that generally hit the mark, even if the lamb can sometimes be a touch dry. Service is warm and attentive most of the time, but it might drag a bit when they're flat out, so if you're after a quick pint, it could test your patience. That outdoor courtyard is an absolute delight on a sunny day, and being so close to the river and town centre makes it ideal for a relaxed wander and then a stop for a bite. Overall, it's a place that does the basics brilliantly and builds a loyal crowd, but it's honest about its flaws – which, in my book, just adds to the authenticity. If you're heading out for a pint with mates, I'd say give it a go; it's got that mix of good vibes and real-world charm that makes for a memorable evening.

The food is nice, service is attentive and they catered well to my needs. They have a both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is really nice.and large.
A solid 4.5. Wonderful environment. Lovely people. Good enough dishes to choose from.
The potatoes that come with the lamb loin smell good at the moment the dish arrives. The lamb itself, as some comments mentioned, is on the dryer side, but still not too tough to be cut by a normal knife. And it’s a lean chunk of protein. The charred part is enjoyable. The carrots and asparagus are tasty, and the gravy is one of the best I’ve had, not greasy and adequately savory with umami.
Schnitzel and duck breast and even salmon udon look nice.
I ordered the Punter Burger, and it was absolutely delectable. The meat patty in the burger was very juicy, and the portion size was quite satisfying. The waitress was incredibly friendly and wore a big smile the entire time. The environment was cosy and inviting—bustling but not too noisy. It was the perfect place to relax and chat with friends for a while. I would definitely love to come back!
Taste overall 9/10 I love the lamb steak here, recommended. Apple&Mango is good too. Service 8/10 the order and food is pretty slow and felt like they needed more staff (maybe because I went there right when it’s open) Cleanness 10/10. Portion with the price 8/10. Vibe 9/10 Good vibe but no internet access and signal at the table inside the restaurant
This little pub sits further away from the city centre which makes it much quieter. It is lovely on the inside and out in therms of aesthetics. The food was good, although I would say the menu is disappointing to a certain extent. We loved the fish and chips but the other dish could’ve done with more flavour.
