About This Pub
You know, I had a right good time at The Priory the other day, and I'd say it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel at home without any fuss. The food's a winner – everything from their carvery to those lemon meringue sundaes is just mouthwatering, and it's all at prices that won't break the bank, which is brilliant for a casual night out. The staff are an absolute gem; they're always cheerful and on the ball, like that chap Albert who's clearly putting in the effort to keep things running smoothly. It's got that traditional pub charm with nice lighting and plenty of seating options, making it great for everything from a quiet drink to a lively quiz evening with mates. On the flip side, it does get packed at times, especially midweek, so you might find yourself navigating a bit of a crowd or waiting if you pop in unannounced. Overall, though, it's a solid choice if you're in Wellingborough and fancy a place that's part of the community and doesn't take itself too seriously – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a bite and a bevvy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think excellent value for money with delicious options like sizzling skillets, flame-grilled burgers, and even a tasty carvery that hits the spot every time.
-
Staff are a real highlight; they're super friendly and helpful, with folks like Albert going above and beyond to make you feel welcome, whether you're grabbing a drink or settling in for a meal.
-
The atmosphere is lovely, with subdued lighting, a variety of tables and booths for different group sizes, and even a private dining room that's perfect for gatherings or events.
-
It's a proper community hub, supporting local charities and offering their function area for free, which makes it feel like a welcoming spot to unwind, watch sport, or enjoy a quiz night.
-
Service is quick and efficient, especially with the handy table app for ordering, and they've got great daily deals that keep things affordable without skimping on quality.
Cons
-
While recent feedback has been glowing, the overall rating suggests there might be some inconsistency in experiences, so it could vary depending on when you visit.
-
It gets pretty busy on evenings like quiz nights, which might mean waits or a bit of a hustle if you're not keen on crowds.
-
The pub's described as inexpensive, but if you're after something a tad more upscale or unique, it sticks to the traditional pub vibe without much flair to stand out.

I had a great time here. Albert is the GOAT!! I like the ketchup it tastes nice. Oh also the food is banging and the people very nice yes good place! This j20 is new and it tastes very nice.
We were staying at the nearby Travelodge and the staff there recommended The Priory. We visited on a Thursday evening when the venue is very busy with a popular Quiz Night. We ordered our food and drink through the table app. The service was super fast and very friendly. The meals were all excellent, good portion sizes and great value for money. We will be returning for a large family gathering for the Sunday carvery.
First time eating here.
Carvery was delicious.
The lemon meringue sundae was out of this world delicious. The ice cream is so creamy, everything complemented everything else beautifully.
Lots of care and effort I to the food. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Will definitely be back.
Thank you!
Would like to say a massive thank you and give recognition to Albert for his hard work. 👏🏻 Albert was extremely helpful and always happy even though he seemed to be doing more than one person's job! He was serving at the bar, welcoming and seating guests, as well as waiting on the tables! Also seeing to any customers that were asking questions or requesting additional items etc. He also took the time to check on us to make sure we were happy with our food and ask if we needed anything else. He then cleared our table for us so we weren't sat around dirty plates. A very friendly and polite hard worker who deserves recognition and rewarded!
