About This Pub

Ah, The Miller – it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its promise of quality steaks and a traditional carvery, and from what I've seen, it delivers on the food front more often than not. Folks rave about the homemade-style dishes and how everything's cooked to perfection, whether you're tucking into a roast on the weekend or grabbing a bite during the week. It's got that family-run feel, with a welcoming atmosphere for kids and a nice garden to enjoy on a sunny day, plus sorting a table online is a breeze. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – I've heard a few tales of staff being a bit short when things go wrong, like missing chips or sauces, which can leave you feeling a bit miffed. And with it getting so busy, you might end up jostling for space or dealing with booking fees that add up. Overall, though, if you're after a solid pub grub experience in Wellingborough, it's worth a punt, just go in with realistic expectations and maybe book ahead to avoid any hassles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy steaks and a cracking carvery that's beautifully cooked and full of flavour.
  • Service is generally warm and friendly, making you feel right at home, especially for family outings or special occasions.
  • It's a proper child-friendly spot with a lovely garden and outdoor area, plus easy parking and straightforward online booking.
Cons
  • Some staff can come across as a bit abrupt or unhelpful if there's a mix-up with your order, which can put a dampener on things.
  • It gets packed quickly, so you might have to plan ahead or risk waiting around, and there are fees for bookings and cancellations.
  • The vibe can feel a tad unwelcoming from the regulars if you're new, which might make first-timers a bit self-conscious.

We had a lovely birthday lunch for our two daughters and their families. The food was absolutely delicious, really beautifully cooked and served. The service was great and very friendly. Best I have had in a long time.

Went for lunch.Young girl serving was polite. When food turned up was a portion of chips short so told the older waitress they were missing and got the response " Did you order them!" Very rude and went off to enquire when returned I asked if we could have some sauce only to be given 1 sachet each for our chips. At no point during our lunch did anyone come over to see if everything was OK. Overall the food was good but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

“Went here on Saturday, 18/01/25, for a birthday celebration. The food was very good—nice, homemade-style dishes. Unfortunately, as it was our first time visiting, I felt a little unwelcome by some of the regular customers.”

Lots of spaces to park although it seems to still get full. A garden out the back with a few children's play items. It gets very busy so it's better to book. You can do this online.. Come through the front door and wait to be seated. The waitress will then take your order, and if its carvery you get called up to the counter. Service was quite slow and we found ourselves waiting for ages before being called despite booking. You then have to queue at the carvery area which was quite packed as you're stood in the Isle. Food was OK, although the mash tasted like it has been blended 3 tines, and the potatoes had nearly completely hit the deck. The food was very soft and squidgy which goes along with their primary target audience which appears to be the older generation. It's a great place if you have hours to kill, sitting in a small room with quite a few pensioners. A quick Sunday lunch it isn't..... !
