About This Pub

Ah, The Prince of Wales – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart the moment you step inside. I've got to say, the refurbishment has done wonders; it's got this inviting, stylish vibe with a spacious bar, a cosy dining room, and that outdoor terrace that's just perfect for soaking up the summer evenings. The food is where it shines brightest – think fresh, seasonal flavours with standout dishes like their Sunday roasts or that heavenly Chocolate Delice, making it ideal for a family gathering or a romantic night out. And it's so welcoming; they even roll out the red carpet for dogs, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk. On the flip side, though, service can be a bit patchy – I've heard tales of orders getting muddled, and some portions, like the carrots, seem a touch mean for what you're paying. Still, with its community spirit and that overall 4.2 rating buzzing in the background, it's got heaps of potential. If you're in East Barnet, I'd pop in for a pint and a bite; it's a gem with a few rough edges, but that's what makes it feel real and worth returning to.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely charming and freshly refurbished, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed drink or a special meal.
  • The food is top-notch, with fresh, seasonal dishes and standout options like the Sunday roast and delicious desserts that really hit the spot.
  • It's a welcoming place for everyone, including families and even your four-legged friends, with a spacious bar, dining area, and a brilliant outdoor terrace for those sunny days.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks and menus that cater to all tastes, perfect for everything from a quick after-work pint to a cosy date night.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit-and-miss, with some orders getting mixed up, which might leave you waiting a tad longer than expected.
  • Portions on certain sides, like the veg, feel a bit stingy, especially for items that shouldn't cost much to add more of.
  • As it's under new management, there are still some teething problems that could do with ironing out for a smoother experience.

Our new local, and gastropub! Please ignore old reviews! This place has been beautifully refurbished and is under new management. Love what they’ve done with the place. It’s a shame they kept the name and therefore the review legacy. There are obviously a few teething issues with it being a new restaurant and menu but it is really beautiful inside and a huge asset to us East Barnetians! The staff are very helpful, and food is genuinely really good British fare. It is a bit expensive, depending what you order, but a lovely experience. Thank you for reviving a great building in a great area 🫶

Service needs improving as I've been twice now and both times there have been misunderstandings with the orders. Food quality is excellent, piping hot food. Quite mean portions with some of the items e.g carrots, which are inexpensive so not sure why this the case. Sunday roast is excellent. Great atmosphere and very dog friendly.

Outstanding renovation has left an impressive and inviting space to eat and drink. Very good selection on the menu and in the bar inc wine list. Enjoyed our family meal there: the starters and deserts particularly.

An absolutely gorgeous visit - stunning food. The Chocolate Delice and the cheese soufflé were highlights, but everything was delicious. A perfect date night!
