About This Pub
You know, I popped into The Cavalier the other week and it really hit the spot as a proper local haunt in Barnet. It's got this inviting atmosphere that's just perfect for unwinding with mates over a pint or catching up on the footie with those big screens. The food's a winner too – we had a cracking Sunday roast that was hearty and reasonably priced, and it's clear they put effort into making it feel homely for families. Plus, with all those events like live music and bingo, there's always something buzzing to join in on, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs with open arms. On the flip side, the rating's not quite hitting the highs, so there might be the odd slip-up, like gripes about the toilets or when it gets packed. Still, it's a solid choice for a good night out, and I'd say give it a go – you'll likely leave with a smile, as long as you keep expectations realistic.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a proper welcoming community spot that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is a real highlight, especially the Sunday roasts, which are delicious and great value for a family meal or a casual bite.
-
They've got a fantastic lineup of events, like live music, bingo nights, free pool, and even a bouncy castle in the summer, keeping things lively for all ages.
-
The staff are top-notch – friendly, helpful, and always up for a chat, making every visit feel personal and enjoyable.
-
It's wonderfully family and dog-friendly, with outdoor seating and a relaxed vibe, so you can bring the kids or your four-legged mate along without a fuss.
Cons
-
The overall rating sits at 3.9, which suggests there might be some off days or inconsistencies in service that could put a dampener on things.
-
There have been a few moans about the facilities, like the toilets not being up to scratch, which might be a minor annoyance on busier evenings.
-
With standard opening hours and a focus on events, it can get a bit crowded at times, so you might struggle for a seat during peak periods.

Lovely pub good atmosphere staff a pleasant, food has always been good.
Proper boozer with welcoming staff. Very down to earth pub. I saw some negative reviews - those lot must never get out into the real world and have a pint in a good local. Moaning about toilets smelling like toilets hahahahaha. Imagine that. Next they'll complain about beer tasting like beer. A load of Hyacinth Boooookaaaaays 😂
We really enjoy coming here. It's safe for kids to play in the garden. They're dog friendly. The toilets are always clean. Haven't had any food yet but it looks good.
Had an absolutely delicious roast dinner at an exceptionally reasonable price, Even the dog was made to feel welcome! Nothing was too much for the very friendly staff, I Would definitely recommend, and will definitely be visiting again lovely family friendly pub
Great pub! Lovely atmosphere and service! Best of all AMAZING food by Lisa! Sunday roast you can’t miss! Including a vegetarian option. Definitely recommend The Cav! Outdoor seating with a great setting! Need space for a party or event this is the place to go! Just ask for Lee or Lisa and they help you out!
We held our son’s christening celebration at the pub. Lee and the staff allowed us to set up from 8am prior to the pub opening which was a great help!
We had 70 guests and were able to fit into the space reserved for us. The pub also has a huge outdoor seating area which was directly outside from where the celebration area was.
As the christening was in May the pub had a bouncy castle which was great for the kids to go on.
The pubs location is great, bus stops outside and tube stations near by and lots of parking.
Guests and ourselves said how much of a great day they had too. Can’t recommend the pub enough for holding events/ celebrations.
Thank you to Lee and all the staff at The Cavalier.
