About This Pub
Ah, The Plough – it's one of those gems in Worcester that really captures the heart of what a proper pub should be, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic range of ales that's always spot on, and at prices that won't leave you gasping. I love how it's got that cosy, character-filled vibe with old-fashioned decor and a welcoming bunch behind the bar, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon or evening catch-up. The food's nothing fancy, but those bar rolls are a solid choice to keep things going. On the flip side, though, there was that one review where someone felt a bit unwelcome due to some abrupt service, especially around ID stuff, so it might not be the best spot if you're after something super laid-back or if you're new to the scene. Overall, with a solid 4.6 rating from heaps of folks, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a brilliant time swapping stories over a pint.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of real ales and beers is top-notch, always well-kept and at really reasonable prices – perfect for a casual pint without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is wonderfully cosy and traditional, with that old-school pub charm that makes you feel right at home, especially if you're into a bit of history and friendly chats.
-
The staff and regulars are incredibly welcoming; it's one of those places where you can pop in alone and end up having a great time, just like the reviews say.
-
They've got decent bar food on offer, like tasty rolls and baps, which go down a treat alongside a cold one.
Cons
-
There have been a few grumbles about the staff being a bit brusque at times, particularly with ID checks, which might put off younger visitors or first-timers looking for a relaxed vibe.
-
It seems like the pub might not suit everyone, as one review mentioned feeling uncomfortable, so it could be hit or miss if you're not in the mood for a more mature crowd.

A 'proper' pub - the best in Worcester. Great beers and ales, properly kept, at very reasonable prices. Good bar food - all served by friendly landlords. The kind of place you can go to alone and be sure of a warm welcome.
Undoubtedly the best real ale pub in Worcester. Cracking range of ales on hand pump, great rolls /baps on the bar, chatty locals and very friendly landlord/lady.
The negative reviews below were obvs from 16 year old students.
Honestly have never felt so uncomfortable walking into a pub. The lady repeatedly said “no” at us before even telling us that she wanted to see our IDs, and was so unbelievably rude. Don’t go here.
It’s got everything you want for a lunchtime pub. A tiled divisional lobby to buy your cask ale, parquet flooring to one side, carpet to the other where you can play backgammon. Wisdens stacked up on the mantlepiece, a great collection of Worcester City FC pin badges, complimentary daily newspapers to read.
Signage is minimal if coming from town - look out for the Bass lantern.
Very cosy bars with friendly mature customers who make you feel at home. The bar area is old fashioned and the pub seems old and full of character, very cosy with superb real ales which are kept in top condition, I visited 4 Worcester pubs on this occasion with the Plough being our favourite by far.
