About This Pub
Ah, The Bull in London Colney is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper British gem, you know? From the reviews, it's clear folks are chuffed with the excellent Guinness and the friendly staff who go out of their way to make everything enjoyable – I can picture myself settling in for a chat over a pint. The food sounds brilliant too, with hearty, home-cooked dishes that have people coming back for seconds, like that steak and ale pie or a spicy burger that's full of flavour. It's got a great atmosphere for watching the footie or catching live music, and the beer garden is perfect for soaking up the sun with mates. On the flip side, the opening times are a bit of a muddle, and with not much buzz from recent reviews, it might be quieter than you'd expect these days. Still, with a solid 4.5 rating overall, I'd say it's worth swinging by for a bite and a bevvy – just keep an eye on those hours to make the most of it!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Guinness is absolutely spot on – it's one of those pints that hits the mark every time, just like a proper traditional pub should.
-
The staff are lovely and incredibly friendly; they really make you feel welcome, with one reviewer even calling the landlady the 'bees knees'!
-
The food is a real highlight, with home-cooked options like steak and ale pie or a spicy jerk chicken burger that's packed with flavour and generous portions.
-
It's got a brilliant atmosphere, whether you're catching the footie on the screens or enjoying live music in a buzzing setting.
-
The beer garden is a treat, especially on a sunny day, and there's plenty of free parking, making it easy to pop in without the hassle.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing with mixed listings, so you might want to double-check before heading out to avoid any surprises.
-
There haven't been many reviews lately, with only one in the last six months, which could mean it's not as lively as it once was.
-
The website isn't very helpful – it's just a basic Facebook page, and I couldn't get much from it, which might make planning a visit a tad tricky.
