About This Pub

Ah, The White Horse – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its welcoming atmosphere and top-notch staff who make every visit feel personal, like you're catching up with pals over a pint. Peter's hospitality shines through in the reviews, and the food, especially those Sunday roasts, sounds absolutely spot on – piping hot and satisfying, with options that cater to a good crowd. It's kept clean and comfy, and the dog-friendly touches are a lovely bonus if you're out for a walk with your pet. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect; some evenings get a bit lively in a not-so-great way, with reports of arguments and even theft, which could make you think twice about going alone. The cocktails might not be their strongest point either, and a few meals haven't lived up to expectations with cold servings. Overall, with a solid 4.5 rating, it's worth checking out for a relaxed meal or drink, just keep an eye on the vibe and maybe stick to the beers for now – you'll get a real sense of what makes it a gem in London Colney.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff, especially Peter, are incredibly welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • The food is a real winner, with delicious Sunday roasts and other meals that come out piping hot and full of flavour, perfect for a hearty lunch.
  • It's kept spotlessly clean and comfortable, making it a cosy spot to relax and unwind after a long day.
  • They're super dog-friendly, offering water bowls and treats, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your four-legged companion.
Cons
  • Some nights can turn a bit rowdy with fights and an unwelcoming vibe from certain groups, which might leave you feeling uneasy.
  • The cocktail service isn't quite up to par, with a few complaints about staff not knowing their way around the drinks menu.
  • There have been unfortunate incidents like coats going missing, which puts a damper on things.
  • Occasionally, food like the Sunday roast arrives cold, which is disappointing when you're looking forward to a proper meal.

I've been here on a few occasions to complete my work on site.. Peter is always very hospitable, the pub looks great... Very clean and comfortable. I will have to add some photos next time I visit.. The pool table was being refelted today so ready if anyone fancies a game 🎱 Thank you Pete for accommodating my early visit... It's always appreciated 👍

Came for a roast on Mother’s Day with my parents and dog. When we asked if the dog was allowed, they immediately asked if he wanted a water bowl and dog biscuit. All the food was amazing, all the meats were well cooked and service was friendly, attentive and accommodating. They even gave my mum a card and a voucher as a Mother’s Day gift. Also very cheap, would highly recommend

Thank you to Peter and the team, whenever we have been to the pub for Sunday Lunch we have always been made to feel welcome and the service has been great. Today was no different. Our party enjoyed a Pork Roast, Sausage & Mash and Fish & Chips. All the meals were beautifully cooked and piping hot. We finished off with Cherry Sundaes, which we would highly recommend. A lovely Sunday Lunch Experience, many thanks to all.

worst pub in Colney. patrons are rude, unwelcoming, some women threatened me few weeks ago although i was minding my own business and been respectfull . fights often breaks making me feel unsafe. staff don`t know how to make cocktails. My coat was stolen. the Sunday roast was served cold and my sis and I waited nearly an hour for it. Patrons don`t observe any dress code showing up wearing work clothes , filthy and gross. Although the owner is nice and kind, I personally will never step foot in this place ever again nor my family. its a shame that such big pub with loads of potentials is ruined by local people.

Actually was a really quality night. Reasonable price drinks, Good tunes from Chris. Everyone friendly and no hassle anywhere. Lovely to discover my new local is a good one. I will go again. Needs a few more punters to make.it lively. But it was an awful night poring with rain. Not a bad turnout considering.
