About This Pub
Ah, The Pig & Whistle – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this inviting, cosy vibe that makes you feel like you're popping round to a mate's house rather than a commercial spot. The staff really stand out; they're super friendly and attentive, always up for a chat, which adds to that genuine community spirit. Plus, there's a cracking beer garden with loads of seating for when the weather's on your side, and if you're into a game of pool or fancy trying out their pop-up food events like the Caribbean specials, you're in for a treat. On the flip side, it's not without its quirks – food options can be hit or miss, as it wasn't available on one reviewer's visit due to the chef being off, so you might want to double-check if you're hoping for a bite. And with no website or proper online setup, it's a bit of a faff to get the latest info. All in all, though, it's a top-notch local for a pint and some good craic, especially if you're in the Melksham area and fancy a place that's more about the people than the polish.

It has a lovely cosy atmosphere with a real community vibe, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
There's a great selection of drinks on offer, and they've got fun extras like a pool table to keep things entertaining.
-
The beer garden is a real gem, with plenty of seating options for sunny days, including benches and sheltered spots.
-
They occasionally host pop-up food events, like Caribbean nights, which sound absolutely brilliant based on the rave reviews.
Cons
-
Food isn't always available, as one visit mentioned the chef being away, so it might not be the spot if you're after a full meal.
-
The online presence is a bit lacking with no website and an unclaimed Google profile, making it trickier to check details or book ahead.
-
The operating hours seem a tad confusing from what's listed, which could lead to surprises if you're planning a visit.

Every Tuesday, get down and fill your boots.
Lovely village pub and very friendly staff, wasn't serving food as the chef was on holiday but will return again shortly
Such a lovely pub- felt so relaxed the second we stepped in the door, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We had our drinks out in the wonderful beer garden as it was such a lovely day and we were spoilt for choice with seating- plenty of benches (out the front also) and a lovely sheltered area with big comfy chairs it was brilliant.
We decided to try the Sunday Lunch but takeaway to enjoy at home and it did not disappoint!! Great portion size and everything was delicious, we will definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu.
