About This Pub
Ah, The Bell Inn – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper British pub, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, Paul and Georgia have really put their heart into making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike, with that personal family touch shining through in everything from the homemade food to the hand-picked beverages. The reviews rave about the atmosphere, whether you're nipping in for a Sunday lunch in the garden or hosting a bigger do in the barn – it's all about that authentic country feel with friendly faces and reasonable prices that don't break the bank. On the flip side, it's a bit of a downer that it appears to be closed right now, so you'd want to double-check that before planning a trip, and the hours do end fairly early, which might leave you wanting more if you're in the mood for a longer evening. Overall, though, it's got that winning combination of good vibes, tasty eats, and a solid ale lineup that makes it worth keeping an eye on for when it's back in full swing – I'd say it's a gem if you're exploring the area and fancy a proper pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The homemade food is absolutely spot on – it's hearty, well-priced, and hits the spot after a country walk.
-
They've got a cracking selection of real ales that change regularly, including their own house beer, which adds a personal touch.
-
The atmosphere is just lovely, whether you're relaxing in the garden on a sunny day or cozied up in the barn for an event.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a great spot for gatherings, with plenty of space and a welcoming vibe that suits everything from casual lunches to special occasions.
Cons
-
It seems like the pub might be closed at the moment, which is a real pity given all the positives – do check before you head over.
-
Opening hours are fairly standard, wrapping up by 10 PM, so it might not be ideal if you're after a late-night pint.

We came on a Sunday as a walk in but were able to choose where we wanted to sit right away. We sat out in the barn. Really nice atmosphere and great prices for quality food.
We popped in for lunch. We sat in the lovely garden. Food was just what we both wanted. They even had tanqueray gin 00. And Kettlesmith new England IPA. which hubby tells me was delicious.
Last night 25/4/25 we had a gathering in the barn for 50 guests. All staff were absolutely amazing! Piping hot lovely food fantastic atmosphere couldn’t do enough for us! Thankyou so much for a wonderful evening 🤩🤩
We held a celebration of life here recently and the ease of booking this from the start really helped at a difficult time. We had the barn to ourselves with the cosy log fires, the use of our own music and were able to personalise the space. The food and drinks were lovely and we were given as much time needed together, which we all appreciated greatly, thank you all at The Bell!
Rang at short notice to book Sunday lunch in the garden, shown to a spacious garden with well spaced out tables some with umbrellas and some in a custom built open barn. Friendly attentive staff, good menu choices at fair prices. Ordered Sunday beef roast, came out promptly, nicely presented with separate seasonal vegetables, excellent proportions and really tender beef, nice roasties, tasty gravy. Good choice of beers, wines and cider.
Excellent choice of puds, settled for homemade sticky toffee pudding with cream and Caribbean bread and butter pudding with bananas and raisins. Excellent portions really enjoyable sweets. Good car parking and a small play area for the children, overall a very good experience
