About This Pub
Ah, The Paddox in Rugby is one of those classic British pubs that really pulls at the heartstrings – it's got that warm, family-friendly feel where you can pop in for a quiet coffee or a full-blown celebration. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff are proper legends, always up for a chat and making sure you're well looked after, which adds a lovely personal touch. The food's a highlight too; think hearty pub favourites that are genuinely tasty, paired with a brilliant range of drinks that cater to all tastes, and don't forget that dog-friendly beer garden – it's just the ticket for a chilled afternoon. On the downside, it's not without its flaws; some have mentioned waiting far too long for meals, even when it's not packed, and the service can sometimes feel a bit off, like when things are served in a hurry or don't quite live up to the hype in the photos. Still, with a solid overall rating, it's clear this place has plenty going for it, so if you're heading out for a pint and a bite, I'd say give it a go but maybe plan for a less busy time to avoid any frustrations. All in all, it's a welcoming spot that captures the essence of a good local, warts and all.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant, always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They serve up some cracking traditional pub grub with tasty dishes and even award-winning options for the little ones, perfect for family outings.
-
The beer garden is a real gem – it's dog-friendly and a lovely spot for relaxing, whether it's sunny or not, with free WiFi to boot.
-
There's a great vibe with events like live music, quizzes, and sports on the telly, plus a wide selection of beers, wines, and low-alcohol options to suit everyone.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss, with some reports of it being slow or rushed, like waiting ages for food or things being plonked down without much care.
-
The food doesn't always match the menu pictures, and it might not be anything special, which can leave you a tad disappointed.
-
Atmosphere varies depending on the time; it might feel a bit flat during the day, even if it's not the management's fault.
-
Wait times for meals can drag on, especially if they're not too busy, which might put a damper on your visit.

I’ve been here now with friends and with my brother and I can’t even fault any issue at all, I’d also like to shout to Will & Ollie who are absolutely legends in this place, both are an absolute star to this place, please don’t let leave, they are great here… Will deffo be back as always, this place is so much better than other places that myself, my brother and friends drink in…
All I will say is, make sure you put more staff on especially in the evenings, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings as this seems to be your busiest times, other than that all is good for the pub
The food was ok but nothing special, did not look like the picture on the menu. Service was good enough at luch time when I returned in the evening for drinks and a bowl of chips the chips were thrown on the table by the young girl. Daytime atmosphere is bad, no fault of the management but its just quiet. evening do we need formula one on every tv?
Four of us visited on Good Friday lunch time. It is a good job they were not busy, we were the third party to order and had to wait an hour for our food, only one young man behind the bar doing drinks, taking food orders and serving food orders.
The food when it arrived was very nice, no complaints apart from very little batter on fish.
Due to such a long wait for food would not hurry to go again
Living locally and passing the Paddox each day on my way to work, decided to go with my family for a meal to celebrate my husband's birthday.
The place is immaculately clean and we had a very friendly welcome by both staff and regulars!
We all ordered different items and each said how tasty and amazing it was. It's so lovely to get food that is piping hot for everyone in the party.
Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning!
Thank you so much for our lovely evening.
Been working down here a while now so we thought we would try somewhere new to eat put it this way we should of stuck to what we knew. Service was OK the young waitress was really nice all our complaints are for the chef/owner firstly took an age waiting for the food then it coming out wrong and saying he cannot change it very unprofessional. Also I'm no chef but if I was and I see a plate come back untouched I would go out and ask why but that's just me.
Will not be coming back and will not recommend to my colleagues.
