About This Pub

Ah, The Orchard Inn – what a lovely little find down by the harbourside in Bristol. I've got to say, if you're into your ciders, this place is an absolute treat; they've got this incredible range of West Country brews that just keep you coming back for more, all served up in a traditional pub that's been around since 1834. The staff are dead helpful and create such a warm, welcoming environment that it feels like chatting with mates over a pint. It's got that classic pub charm with real ales poured fresh and events like the Blues Jam that really liven things up. On the flip side, the food options are pretty straightforward – think hearty sandwiches rather than a fancy menu – so if you're hoping for a big meal, you might want to plan ahead. And while it's affordably priced, it does get a bit crowded at times, which can make it tricky to nab a table. Overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed evening, especially if you're exploring Bristol's best bits, and I'd recommend giving it a go for that authentic, down-to-earth pub feel.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cider selection is absolutely brilliant – they've got over 20 varieties on tap, including farmhouse favourites like Wilkins and Hecks, plus some cracking bottled options that really hit the spot for any cider enthusiast.
  • It's got a wonderfully welcoming vibe with friendly staff who know their stuff, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The location by the harbourside is spot on; it's a short stroll from Bristol city centre, perfect for a relaxed pint after a wander along the water.
  • They've got live music events like the Blues Jam on Mondays, which adds a lively touch and makes for a great night out.
  • As a traditional freehouse, they serve up well-kept real ales and it's all at an inexpensive price, so you won't break the bank enjoying a proper pub experience.
Cons
  • The food menu seems a bit limited, mostly sticking to things like doorstop sandwiches, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
  • It's quite cider-focused, which is fantastic if that's your thing, but if you're not a big fan, the drink options might feel a tad narrow compared to a more varied pub.
  • Being a popular spot, it can get busy, especially during events, so you might have to queue or struggle for a seat on peak nights.

Great little cider house in a harbourside location. Amazing selection of farmhouse ciders. Also have some well kept real ales. Love this place! Blues Jam on Mondays too!

If you like cider this the pub to come to, having won numerous awards, there are ciders for all tastes ranging from dry to sweet, cloudy to clear you should be able to get a drink to suit. Food is available. Live music on certain nights and walk in acts. Very helpful and friendly staff with a knowledge of the drinks being sold,

I absolutely loved this pub. I'm not a cider drinker, but thought I'd go crazy and try one: it was excellent. This is a proper pub with friendly locals, I have no idea who the bloke behind me was, but he was great laugh. Roast potato's were being passed around and they were perfect, certainly recommended. My wife had a half IPA shandy which she also loved. The tables in the bar have holes drilled for keeping score with cribbage ( I think ), a real bit of nostalgia. This is not an olde wolde theme pub, this is a proper locals pub and I highly recommend it.
