The Oliver Twist, 62-63 N Market Rd, Great Yarmouth NR30 2DX

About This Pub

Ah, The Oliver Twist – it's one of those neighbourhood gems in Great Yarmouth that just hits the spot for a laid-back night. From what I've gathered from the chats and reviews, the staff are absolute stars; they're always up for a bit of banter and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The drinks selection is spot on too, with good beers at prices that won't break the bank – that £2 a pint is a proper winner for keeping things affordable. And the atmosphere? It's got that warm, lively feel, especially with karaoke nights where you can join in or just soak it all up; it's dead easy to chat with others and make new friends. On the downside, if you're someone who swears by real ales, you might be a tad disappointed since there aren't any hand pumps on offer – it's more about the mainstream options here. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a fun, no-fuss evening, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after good value and a welcoming crowd, but maybe not if you're set on something more traditional.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and drinks at pocket-friendly prices, like that £2 a pint lager that's a real bargain.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – lively and inviting, with fun extras like karaoke that make it easy to mingle and have a laugh.
  • It's a clean and well-kept spot with a proper local vibe, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
Cons
  • It might not tick all the boxes for real ale lovers, as there are no hand pumps to offer those traditional brews.
  • Some might find the background music and decor a bit standard, without that extra flair some pubs have.

Local pub with good selection of drinks and a friendly bar tender. Very accommodating about drink choices. Also has karaoke and people are friendly and welcoming, the sort of place you could go and mingle even if you didn't know anyone.

Great welcome from staff and locals. Will definitely be back next time in great yarmouth. The Oliver Twist lager is fantastic value @ £2 a pint.

Only called in to look for real ale. Very well presented pub, but no hand pumps, so didn’t stay

7 real ales on tap (3 usual ales as found in most places but 4 unusuals). Clientelle and staff friendly. Music in background but not too loud and TVs showing various sports (muted). Clean bar and looks like the pub has been around for a long time but decor not rotten as some old, unkempt pubs.
