About This Pub

Ah, The Old Thameside Inn – what a delightful spot it is, tucked away near London Bridge with its rich history as an old spice warehouse and views of the Thames that never fail to impress. I mean, you're sitting there with a pint in hand, gazing out at the river and the replica of Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind, and it just feels like you're part of something special. The food is genuinely good – their British classics like pies and cocktails went down a treat when I visited, and it's clear they take pride in serving up quality dishes. Plus, the atmosphere is buzzing, especially if you're there to catch some sports on the telly, and the staff are absolute gems, making sure everything runs smoothly. On the flip side, it does get pretty packed at times, so you might end up jostling for space or waiting a bit longer than you'd like. And while the prices are fair for the location, they do add up, so it's worth keeping an eye on the bill if you're planning a longer session. All in all, it's a cracking pub that balances tradition with a fun vibe, and I'd definitely recommend it for a memorable outing, as long as you're up for a bit of hustle and bustle.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The historic location right by the Thames offers stunning views and a real sense of character, making it a treat for anyone who appreciates a bit of history with their pint.
  • The food and drinks are spot on – think classic British pies and refreshing pints that hit the mark, with plenty of options to suit different tastes.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, always ready with a smile and quick service, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
  • It's a fantastic spot for watching sports or catching up with mates, thanks to the Sky TV and lively atmosphere that keeps things entertaining.
  • Booking a table is straightforward, even for larger groups, so you can plan ahead without any hassle.
Cons
  • It can get quite crowded, especially during peak times, which might make it a bit tricky to find a seat or enjoy a quiet chat.
  • Prices are on the moderate side, but given its prime spot in central London, you might find them a tad steep for what you get.

Visited with a group of girlfriends and had such a fun time! Beautiful riverside location, great atmosphere, and super friendly staff (especially Tony). The food and drinks were fab — especially the cocktails! Perfect place to relax and catch up. We’ll definitely be back!

Enjoyed visiting this pub, which on a Wednesday evening seemed a lot less packed and generally more pleasant than others in the area. We'd booked a table just for drinks for a group of eight and it had been a bit of a struggle finding somewhere to do so in this area. But no problem here, and our table was in a nice pretty quiet bit with good views of the river. Looks an excellent spot for sitting outside in summer. We had table service which was good and attentive but also noticed there was never a huge queue at the bar.
