About This Pub
Ah, the George—it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the moment you walk in, with its rich history dating back centuries and that cosy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the atmospheric setting, where you can imagine Dickens himself popping in for a chat, and the solid lineup of beers and cocktails that keep the good times flowing. The food's generally a winner too, with hearty Sunday roasts and classic pub dishes that hit the spot after a day of wandering near Borough Market. It's got all the perks for a relaxed outing, like a lovely beer garden for sunnier days and being super accommodating for dogs and families. But let's keep it real—there are a few niggles; the grub isn't always perfect, with some reviews noting it fell a bit flat, and it can get nippy inside when the weather turns. Still, with an impressive 4.3 rating from heaps of visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a memorable experience. If you're after a spot that's got history, heart, and a bit of everything, the George is definitely worth a visit—just pop in prepared for the odd chill or crowd.

An astonishing surviving landmark of 17th Century London and an absolute MUST SEE & EAT HERE!!!!!
It is wonderful that we can still be treated to monuments like this and ESPECIALLY while it provides some terrific food which can be consumed with the ghosts of Charles Dickens and Winston Churchill.
Be sure to try the SALMON FISH CAKES and/or the STEAK CHIABATTA...some of the best food we had while in London.
Be sure to tour the main bar and Parliament Room and see the story of William Pitt's taxes at 1797 THE PARLIAMENT CLOCK, an historic treasure.
A great pub. Historic atmosphere and good beer. Plenty of seating inside or on the outdoor terrace. Very quiet location off the main road. Plus, it's close to the center and Borough Market. We recommend it.
Visited here 11am on a sunny Friday in May, what a place! We snatched a seat on the gallery and enjoyed overlooking the courtyard as the patrons slowly arrived. Very cool spot. History is cool but they are keeping it relevant too.
We had a great Sunday roast dinner at the George Inn very pub. The atmosphere was just like in back in the old days a bit cold in the restaurant due to the cold outside, so please bring a jacket or overcoat. Our will hosted a great job and giving us a great service.
The pub has a charming atmosphere with rustic decor, making it a great spot for drinks and socializing. The drink selection is good, offering local ales and craft cocktails. However, the food didn't meet my expectations. While they serve classic pub fare like fish and chips, the preparation was lacking—my fish was overcooked and the chips could have been crispier. Overall, it's a nice place for drinks, but I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a meal.
