About This Pub
Ah, The Market Porter, what a gem it is down in the hustle of London! I've got to say, from what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really knows how to pull in a crowd with its friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after – it's that kind of spot where you feel like you're catching up with old friends over a drink. The food's another highlight; think delicious pies and classic fish and chips that deliver on flavour, and it's perfect if you're popping in after a wander around Borough Market, with those stunning views adding to the charm. It's especially ace for gatherings, like a work do or a casual meet-up, where everything just flows nicely. But, let's keep it real, there are a few niggles – the portions aren't always as generous as you'd hope, and the prices can feel a bit punchy, especially for a standard pint. Sometimes the vibe inside might not quite hit the mark, feeling a tad subdued, and you might run into little issues like mix-ups at the bar. Overall, though, with a solid 4.3 rating from folks who've been there, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with your eyes open to the ups and downs, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

The food is nice however the portions are small. I thought the prices were on the dear side. The drink selection is standard. I think it's about £7 for a Guinness. I thought the atmosphere inside was a bit flat. The pub is in a nice location.
Had a great time here, friendly and attentive staff. Great food and all reasonably priced, would recommend! Nice view of borough market from the window where we sat and ate.
I really love this pub! Was very lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked. And people were queuing to get in as soon as it opened! The staff were very accommodating and found us a table. I had the pie of the day, which was steak & ale served with mashed potato, cabbage and gravy (in a separate jug - which I loved as I like to pour my own gravy and not have my food drowned!) As this is Borough Market, it isn't a bargain price but not too bad for London. The other food looked good too! They were doing a roaring trade with fish and chips! Great dining room upstairs with it's own bar. can't comment on the beers as I only had a pint of Estrella. Great place.
I hosted our 2024 Christmas Work Party here and it was a great success! The food was on time, well portioned and delicious! The team setting up and serving was extremely helpful and friendly. The entire room was beautifully decorated and the view of Borough Market was amazing. 10/10 would recommend.
A cozy English pub near Borough Market. The upstairs area has a nice, atmospheric vibe – great for a relaxed meal. I went for the classic fish & chips, which met my expectations, or maybe even a bit better; solid for pub food. There was a bit of a mix-up with the beer selection, as the upstairs bar doesn’t carry all the options available downstairs, and they can’t bring them up. Overall, though, a positive experience!
