About This Pub

Ah, The Old Fields – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening in London. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the warm, welcoming atmosphere; it's got that classic British pub charm with friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel at ease, and the food is a real winner – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts and brunches that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's brilliantly set up for watching the big games, whether it's footie or rugby, and being so close to the station makes it a no-brainer for a quick meet-up. On the flip side, it's part of a chain, so it doesn't quite have that hidden gem feel, and sometimes the beer options, like the cask ales, aren't as varied as you'd hope, which could leave beer aficionados wanting more. Still, it's a solid choice for families or if you're out with the dog, and overall, it strikes a nice balance of being affordable and enjoyable. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go – it's got that community spirit that makes pub visits feel special.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is spot on – think delicious Sunday roasts, tasty brunches, and standout desserts like sticky toffee pudding that keep you coming back.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere, with comfy seating inside and a sunny outdoor area that's perfect for people-watching on a nice day.
  • Super convenient location, just a couple of minutes from the station, making it easy to pop in after a wander around Southfields.
  • Family-friendly and dog-friendly vibes, plus it's great for catching live sports like football or rugby on the telly.
Cons
  • The beer selection can be a bit hit or miss at times, like when not all the cask ales are on tap, which might disappoint ale enthusiasts.
  • As part of the Greene King chain, it sometimes feels a tad standard rather than uniquely quirky, if you're after something more off the beaten path.
  • Opening hours are fairly standard, so it might not suit late-night sorts looking for a place that stays buzzing into the wee hours.

The Old Fields is my new favourite pub in London! 2mins from the station, an exceptionally nice atmosphere not just from the lovely staff but also the clientele, ample comfy seating and space inside with a small but perfect-for-world-watching seating area out the front that gets the sunlight perfectly. The few meals I’ve had so far were each delicious and the Guinness is cold and as good as you’ll get anywhere. Zoe in particular behind the bar is also a credit to The Old Fields; friendly, professional and very welcoming. Looking forward to bringing my favourite people here soon. Big thanks to all! :)

I’m not an expert as I’m a tourist, but the Sunday Roast I had here today was a 10/10 in my opinion! Also loved the atmosphere and interior of this pub.

This is our local pub; we've been many times for weekday lunch, and recently tried their new weekend brunch. Food is consistently delicious (their sticky toffee pudding is one of the best we've had) and value for money, they are kid-friendly, and service is always attentive. The atmosphere is also lovely after their renovation last year.

A fine offering Fein the Greene King crowd. The Old Fields in Southfields, a short walk from the underground station. The pub offers a good range of keg beers and ciders along with three cask ales (usually, only two on today with the Abbott waiting its turn). Great service and a gentle atmosphere. A pleasant place for a pitstop.
