About This Pub

Ah, The Old City Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in the heart of Hammersmith. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, with that down-to-earth charm that's hard to beat. You're in for a treat with the food; their pizzas and pies come highly recommended, and it's all served up in a lively atmosphere where you can kick back with a pint while watching the big game on the screens. It's spot on for families or if you're popping in with the dog, and extras like the beer garden and pool table add a fun twist to the evening. On the flip side, though, it's a smaller spot, so it can get a bit squished when it's busy, and if you're thinking of grabbing some grub later in the evening, you might need to plan ahead since they wrap up food service fairly early. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out – I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after that authentic pub feel without any pretences.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a cracking atmosphere, perfect for catching live sports on HD screens or just having a chat with mates.
  • The food is spot on – think delicious pizzas and succulent pies that hit the spot every time.
  • It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry friend along without any fuss.
  • There's a beer garden, pool table, and even real ale options, adding to the fun and traditional pub vibe.
Cons
  • It's a bit on the cosy side, meaning it can get quite packed during busy times, which might make it feel a tad cramped.
  • Food service stops relatively early at 9pm, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might be out of luck.
  • While the drinks are great, the selection might not be the most extensive for those looking for something a bit more unusual.

Genuinely 100% across the board. Cracking atmosphere, lovely staff, proper good food and drinks — can’t fault a thing. You can tell they’ve put a lot of care into the place, and it really shows. Everything just felt spot on from start to finish. Easily one of the best pub experiences I’ve had in ages. Will definitely be back!

I have been living a short walk from this place and had never been in - recently visited in February and it was amazing. Quite a small pub, I did book a table for dinner/food luckily. Service was amazing (no complaints at all), super friendly and nice and even moved our dinner res forward as we were early for the booking. Food was great, not to mention so affordable! Highly recommend this place, vegan/veggie options which is great for me. Drinks are affordable. Such a nice cosy atmosphere in here.

Absolutely love coming to this place, glad to have it as one of my locals. I’m probably here everyday or so. Guinness on point. Staff are really nice down to earth sorts, makes me like spending time here - pool tables and dart make is really fun. Everyone of the staff deserve a pat on the back and a pint. Please ease up on the Beatles, love them but I can’t take anymore 😂. Love the cat btw.

It’s not a boutique pub but one of character and a friendly atmosphere with great service. I went twice in the week and brought friends who all enjoyed it. Amazing authentic fresh Thai food which is cooked quickly. I like the novelty of having a Thai curry with a good Guinness in an Irish pub in London. The location would be great except there’s still building works on the bridge with wooden walls around the outside seating but this can’t be helped. Not a bad walk from the nearest tube.
