About This Pub
Ah, The Blue Boat – it's one of those places that really captures the essence of a classic London riverside pub, isn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it with folks, it's got this inviting atmosphere where you can kick back with a decent pint of Fuller's and watch the world go by on the Thames. The views are top-notch, especially on a sunny day, and the food does shine in spots, like their haddock and chips or a solid Sunday roast that hits the spot after a long walk. The staff often get a thumbs up for being warm and on point, which makes it feel like a proper local haunt for catching up with mates or even hosting a wee get-together. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing – some have mentioned the food can be inconsistent, with things like meat coming out a bit overcooked, and the menu doesn't offer a huge range, so you might end up sticking to the safe choices. Service can have its off moments too, feeling a tad rushed or not quite as attentive, and those prices do add up quickly, especially with the odd nudge for tips on simple orders. All in all, though, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy a relaxed spot by the water; just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The location by the Thames is absolutely spot on – it's got that lovely riverside vibe with stunning views and sunsets that make it perfect for a chilled afternoon or evening out.
-
The food hits the mark in places, like their haddock and chips or Sunday roasts, which come across as proper, hearty pub classics made with fresh ingredients.
-
Staff are generally friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome whether you're popping in for a quick pint or booking for a special occasion.
-
It's a great spot for private events or just enjoying a premium selection of drinks, with a spacious patio that's ideal for soaking up the atmosphere.
Cons
-
The food can be a bit hit or miss – some dishes might turn out overdone or just not quite as special as you'd hope, leaving you wanting more.
-
The menu feels a tad limited, so if you're after a wide variety of options, it might not quite deliver that excitement.
-
Service can sometimes be sloppy, with a few reports of it not being as sharp as it could be, which might put a dampener on things.
-
Prices are on the steeper side for a pub, and those tipping prompts at the bar for something simple like pulling a pint can feel a bit cheeky.

Fairly decent Sunday Roast (tender beef if a tad over done) at this nicely located pub by the river. Decent pint (Fullers). One of those places where the card reader at the bar asks if you want to add a gratuity. I don’t mind paying service charge but for pulling a pint? No.
Went in with my wife for a dinner, we were seated promptly. Food was fantastic and arrived quickly! Would recommend the haddock and chips. The lady that looked after us was fantastic, I can’t remember her name but she was Iranian. Would
Definitely recommend this place
Booked at a table for 13 after watching the last game of the season. We arrived 20 minutes early, only to be given an amazing welcome. The staff were attentive & friendly & the lady who looked after us deserves a medal. We ordered drinks & waited for the stragglers to arrive. The food that was ordered was truly amazing. More importantly it was served piping hot. The London Pride was in good condition, as we're all the other beverages. The live music really made the day & the atmosphere inside & outside the Blue Boat was invigorating.
I recommend the Brown Crab Rarebit.
Thankyou to the Blue Boat staff for fantastic Sunday evening.
Before a concert on Monday evening we went along the river to have a drink. Popped into The Blue Boat, had some drinks and dinner as well. The service and food was good and the location is excellent on a sunny day .
The Blue Boat is a nice pub with an amazing view of the Thames. Great for a drink outside, but the food is nothing special, the menu is limited, and the service can be a bit sloppy. Prices are also on the high side!
