Dear Blue Anchor Pub, We would like to share our experience during our recent visit to your pub. Firstly, Blue Anchor Pub holds a fond place in our hearts for its picturesque riverside location, and we were delighted to choose it as our venue for a significant event. Reserving the venue in advance was an absolute breeze, owing to the commendable assistance of Laura. Her informative and accommodating nature made the process seamless, for which we are extremely grateful. However, our visit to the pub on the day of the event wasn't quite as anticipated. We arrived promptly at 5pm and encountered an unwelcoming series of queries immediately. An individual, possibly a manager, seemed uninformed about our reservation, the setup discussed with his colleagues, and the tab system. This left us surprised and a tad disconcerted. Further, the room we had booked appeared in a state of disarray, presumably from an event that concluded at 4pm - an hour before our arrival, we didn't expect this lack of preparation. In terms of service, there was a noticeable shortage of personnel on the floor. However, we do want to specifically recognize Will (hopefully a correct name), who did a fantastic job despite being the lone bartender on duty. His efficiency, resourcefulness, and top-notch service left a very positive impression on us. We paid a sum of around £1,800.00.
Tranquil traditional pub overlooking the Thames nr. Hammersmith. Reviews seemed good and as I was in the area I thought I'd give it a try. I had the fish n chips which were very tasty with lovely crisp batter and cooked to perfection. The only comment was that the mushy peas portion was rather meagre. To accompany the meal I had a glass of rose' - from memory the wine selection wasn't vast but adequate enough . Ice cream combo for dessert to finish was enjoyable too , and good quality🍨 Waiting staff were attentive and provided good service; however it was relatively expensive for what I ordered . Overall a good experience and worth a visit.
Great pub by the water with amazing vibes and well busy, could not recommend enough on a sunny day in London. The food is good decent menu was just a bit taken aback when the first round (2 pimms, 1 corona, 2 lager pints =£40!!) and the ceaser (even though not being cheap) was a bit small but good!
Absolutely stunning pub with wonderful views of the Thames and Hammersmith bridge.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and was served in 10 minutes despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon.
The fish and chips was lovely, not usually a fan of batter but the batter here was done perfectly, no sickly oily sensation after eating it, just crispy and thin bliss. The chips were pretty good, not exactly chippie style but for a pub I'll give it a pass (characteristically over crispy chips) and the mushy peas really were delicious.
My bangers and mash, very good gravey and sausages were delightful. The mash was decent though personally I like mine rich in butter and cheese. Those 2 plates came up to 38 pounds.
Glasses were nice and clean, had a good range of drinks. Couldn't see if they did cocktails though.
The staff was lovely and welcoming.
The decor was charming with plenty of outdoor seats and a quiet dining round the back.
Toilets were very clean, for a pub, which is always a bonus albeit small.
This pub is located ideally in a prime riverside location and benefits from a cozy atmosphere. Staff went out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience, preemptively moving us to a quieter corner when they noticed a nearby group might be too loud.
However, the Sunday roast (we tried both beef and veg) was underwhelming—the beef and veg roast were dry, and the potatoes weren’t crispy. While the ambiance and relaxed, unrushed vibe were great, the food itself didn’t meet expectations given the 30+ minute wait to order during a busy Sunday.
Overall, a charming spot for the setting, but don’t come expecting an exceptional roast or speedy service.
