About This Pub
Ah, The Newlands in Coventry – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel welcome, isn't it? From what I've gathered, it's a proper community hub where you can pop in for a pint, catch up with friends over some hearty, affordable food, or even enjoy a bit of sport on the telly. The staff are spot on, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly with table service that's a step above the usual. Their menu's got a great mix too, with fresh ingredients and plenty of choices for those who fancy something veggie or vegan, and the portions are generous enough to leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – I've heard a tale or two about the odd billing error that might catch you off guard, or a dish not quite cooked to your liking, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening; I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just maybe double-check your tab at the end to keep things hassle-free. It's all about that balance, right?
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic value for money – their meals are affordable and generous, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly night out.
-
Friendly and welcoming staff who always try their best to make you feel right at home, with table service that's a nice touch.
-
A great selection of fresh, tasty food including options for vegetarians and vegans, plus classics like sizzling skillets and burgers that hit the spot.
-
Lovely atmosphere for relaxing with mates, watching the game, or just unwinding, and they're really involved in the local community.
-
Plenty of seating and a traditional pub feel with that extra 'sizzle' – it's just the right place for a casual get-together.
Cons
-
There have been a few grumbles about billing mix-ups, like being charged more than expected for drinks, which can put a damper on things.
-
Sometimes the food doesn't come out quite as ordered, such as a steak that's more well-done than you asked for, though it's not a common complaint.

Best value restaurant by far. Compare similar meals elsewhere and you won't find cheaper. Sizzling pubs are the best for price, quality & quantity. Staff always do their best to please also.
I came here with my friend we were taking turns on rounds of drinks twice my round and hers included were £9.10 same drinks every time. Then I was charged £12 something, when I mentioned it in a polite way to the manager, she said that no transaction had came up on the till, I wasn't going to argue about it. I just walked away, I was basically in the wrong even though i had proof on my banking app. Rude staff apart from the odd one or two. Emily was really nice and helpful. After the over charge payment I felt very uncomfortable and felt like our company wasn't wanted there.
At The Newlands, on Tile Hill Lane you can have some lovely food and they have a good choice of beers, wines and spirits.
Inside the pub there is a good choice of places to sit and the noise from the loudspeakers is not too intrusive, so you can hear each other pleasantly when you're having a conversation. There is a Poole table as well if you fancy a game.
There is a lovely spacious lawn area if you fancy sitting outside. The car park is large and you don't have to pay or record your number plate to use the car park when you go in for eats and drinks.
The Newlands is certainly worth a try.

Friendly atmosphere with a large menu. Food tasted great with fair wait time.
Ordered medium rare steak but closer to medium - might be due to hot sizzling hot plate. Ribs with BBQ sauce was great. Starters of calamari, mushrooms and halloumi fries were also great.
We came here for dinner the other day and have to say it's some of the best pub food we've tried in Coventry. The portions are huge and the prices are very affordable. Service was overall friendly and helpful and unlike other pubs they offer table service. We'll be back for more soon!
