About This Pub

Ah, The Minstrel Boy – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub in Coventry. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems; they're friendly and welcoming, which really sets the tone for a great visit. The food stands out too – think delicious Sunday roasts with heaps of veg and good value for money, plus that little extra like a free pudding that makes it feel special. It's got all the classics: pool, darts, live sports on the telly, and a relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind with friends. Folks have raved about group outings, like the seniors enjoying their Easter lunch, which shows it's spot on for social gatherings. On the flip side, the opening times can be a bit of a puzzle – it often kicks off around 4pm on weekdays, so if you're after an early session, you might be out of luck. And being so local-focused, it might not have that broad appeal if you're just passing through, especially without a website to peek at the details first. Overall, it's a solid spot with more ups than downs, and I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint if you're in the area – just go with the flow and enjoy the good bits!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight, with fantastic Sunday roasts, a great selection of veggies, and reasonable prices that won't break the bank.
  • It's got a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a casual catch-up, complete with activities like pool, darts, live sports, and even a free pudding with Sunday lunch – what a treat!
  • Plenty of positive vibes from groups and locals, like the seniors who had a brilliant Easter lunch there.
Cons
  • The opening hours can be a bit confusing, with some days starting later, like around 4pm on weekdays, which might not suit everyone.
  • It seems very much a local spot, so if you're not from the area, it might feel a tad exclusive or hard to get info on without a website.
  • Not much in the way of online presence, which could make it tricky to check menus or events before heading over.

Local pub for local people , pool table , darts , and a online fruit machine , live sports and a relaxed atmosphere- upon my first ever visit here as it mostly opens 4pm , however open all day weekends I got the chance to visit - outside signs as well as inside mostly food inspired - however I don’t think they do food anymore (I could be wrong ) I did see one sign saying booking is essential !
