About This Pub

Ah, the New Callendar Arms – it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its fresh refurb and welcoming feel, especially if you're after a solid meal and a bit of entertainment. From what I've gathered from the chats online, the food's a highlight; think delicious burgers and chips that leave you satisfied, and it's all at prices that won't break the bank. Bruno and the team often get a thumbs up for being attentive and making sure you're well looked after, which adds a nice personal touch. Plus, with live music on offer, it can turn into a fun night out where you're tapping your feet or even having a dance. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – some have mentioned the portions are a bit skimpy, and certain dishes like the steak pie haven't impressed everyone, making you wonder if it's really worth the quid. The atmosphere can vary; it's brilliant on good days but might feel lacking otherwise, and there've been a couple of grumbles about less than friendly service from the manager. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in Falkirk and fancy a relaxed spot for dinner and drinks, just go in with an open mind and maybe skip it if you're after something foolproof.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The place has had a fantastic makeover – it's all newly refurbished and feels fresh and inviting, making it a real gem in Falkirk.
  • The food is generally spot on, with tasty options like halloumi burgers and mac and cheese that hit the spot, and prices that feel fair for the quality.
  • Service is top-notch, especially from Bruno the manager, who's attentive and makes sure everything runs smoothly – it's like having a friendly host looking after you.
  • They've got live music and a lively vibe on some nights, turning it into more than just a bar; it's a proper entertainment spot where you might even end up dancing.
Cons
  • Portions can be a bit on the small side, and some dishes like the steak pie might not live up to expectations in terms of quality, leaving you feeling short-changed.
  • Prices don't always match the value, with a few folks mentioning it's not worth the money for what you get.
  • The atmosphere isn't always buzzing; it can feel a tad flat at times, which might put a damper on your evening.
  • Service isn't consistent – while it's great most of the time, there have been reports of the manager being a bit unwelcoming, which could sour the experience.

Tried the 'New Cally Arms' recently and what a transformation ! The place is newly refurbished and entirely different. The food and chef are great, the host Bruno is fantastic. This is now my new Friday Night Dinner place in Falkirk. Prices are also very reasonable considering the quality of service. Give it a try next time you're in Falkirk.

Food was tasty, although not great quality steak in steak pie. Not big portions ,certainly not worth the money 14 for steak pie .....had better and cheaper. Staff were polite and attentive, felt there was absolutely no atmosphere, and definitely wouldn't go back .

So much more than a bar, food was excellent and well priced , staff very attentive and Bruno the manager very informative and made sure the place ran smoothly. Live music was on and later on people were dancing. An all round excellent entertainment venue with good food, I would highly recommend the Callander Arms.

We decided to try the New Callander Arms for our lunch on Good Friday. The staff were super friendly, and really attentive. We had the halloumi burgers with hand cut chips, and mac and cheese, and were not disappointed. The onion rings were also fantastic! I didn't leave enough room for a dessert, so we'll need to pop back. 10/10

I came this this pub as one of colleagues told me before it closed down the pub was very vibrant. So I though I would try it out after work get a quick soft drink before I head home. I arrive and was greeted not in a very polite manner by the manager. I don't think he wanted me thier. He went round to all the tables asking if the guests were OK but never once came to me. Ive work in London john Lewis partnership and I did various jobs in the city and I have never seen this level of poor customer service. The young lady was fantastic she was the sepervisor and I think she should be getting the managers job
