About This Pub

Oh, Aitkens Bar in Falkirk is one of those hidden gems that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars – always up for a chat and with a smile that lights up the place, which makes popping in for a drink feel like catching up with old friends. The drinks are a bargain too, often the cheapest in town, so it's brilliant if you're just wanting to relax without splashing out. I love how they've got the sports on the telly and some nostalgic tunes in the background, paired with the horse racing action, making it a top choice for a casual afternoon or evening out. It's smack in the middle of town, which is handy for a quick stop. On the flip side, it does attract a mostly older crowd, so if you're after something a bit more vibrant or family-oriented, it might not quite hit the mark – one person mentioned it's not the spot for your maiden aunt, and I can see why. Plus, the opening times look a bit confusing with all those overlapping schedules, and without a proper website, it's not always easy to plan around. All in all, it's a solid pick for a straightforward, enjoyable pint, but just keep those little niggles in mind for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The bar staff are incredibly friendly and always smiling, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Drinks are super affordable, often among the cheapest in Falkirk, which is perfect if you're looking to enjoy a pint without breaking the bank.
  • It has a lively atmosphere with sports on the telly, horse racing, and nostalgic music playing in the background, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • Centrally located in Falkirk town, so it's easy to pop in after a wander around.
Cons
  • The crowd tends to be mostly older folks, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after a more mixed or lively scene.
  • Opening hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, with multiple listings for Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out to avoid disappointment.
  • It doesn't have much of an online presence, like no website, which makes it tricky to get the latest info or book ahead if you wanted to.

Great little pub in the middle of town. Mostly older clientele but generally pretty friendly and the drinks are very reasonably priced

Atmosphere excellent!! Perhaps not the place to take your maiden aunt, but, if you fancy a couple of hours of enjoyment, with a background of nostalgic music been played in the background, and the racing on the Telly, coupled with the friendly staff behind the counter, I thoroughly recommended Aitkens for a terrific time out.
