About This Pub
Ah, The Mezzanine – it's one of those places that really stands out in the London bar scene, tucked away in this impressive hotel building near the Olympic Park. I have to say, the cocktails are a highlight; they're well-crafted with modern twists on old favourites, and they've got some brilliant deals like £7 cocktails late on weeknights or mini martinis on Fridays. The atmosphere is just lovely for a catch-up or a date – think smooth vibes with DJs getting the party going over the weekend. Service-wise, it's mostly spot on, with friendly staff who know their drinks inside out, but honestly, it's not flawless; there've been grumbles about missing ingredients for simple cocktails or the odd bad service day that leaves you wanting more. Still, with a solid 4.5 rating, it's clear most folks have a great time, and it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep an eye on their opening hours and maybe check for any private events first. All in all, it's a gem with a bit of room for improvement, making it a fun spot to recommend with a caveat.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The cocktails here are absolutely spot on – they've got creative twists on classics that make for a proper treat, and there's a great selection of premium spirits and champagnes to choose from.
-
The service can be top-notch; for instance, servers like Mark really know their stuff and give excellent recommendations, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got a fantastic vibe for a relaxed evening, perfect for first dates or catching up with mates, with DJs spinning tunes on Friday and Saturday nights to keep things lively.
-
The location in that striking building near Stratford International Station is a winner – easy to get to and surrounded by the buzz of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Cons
-
It doesn't always live up to the 'world-class' billing; for example, they might not have basic ingredients for some cocktails, which can be a bit disappointing.
-
Service isn't consistently brilliant – there have been times when it's been off, leading to folks leaving early without even ordering much.
-
They're only open four days a week, from Wednesday to Saturday, which means it's not ideal if you're looking for a spot on other nights.
-
Occasional closures for private events can throw a spanner in the works if you've got your heart set on going.

Mark was an excellent server! Super good at his job and gave us an excellent service and recommendation of drinks
The vibes!!! Grab a bottle and chill there for the evening, definitely a bar for first dates when you want to get to know the person and chat lots. Chill vibes & aesthetically, very pleasing.
This place describes itself as ‘World class’ but this is is pushing the description somewhat. Just tried to order a Brandy Alexander cocktail. They have no cream to be able to make this simple cocktail. This ‘World class cocktail bar’ (Their description, not mine) is in a hotel but apparently they can’t rustle up any cream? Nice atmosphere and otherwise good service but describing this as Word Class is World Class Overselling!
Love this bar, loads of choice and seriously well crafted cocktails. Outstanding service too, it's great to have a place like this to go to in Stratford. Not hard to find as it's located in this striking building, just outside Stratford International Station and Westfield. Don't get Stratford International Station confused with Stratford Station :) They are different!
The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because I’m trying to give this place the benefit of doubt and perhaps caught service on a bad day and as someone who served in the f&b industry for several years, I empathise when it happens. I only wanted a few drinks with a friend and we left before even having our first round, due to what felt like staff ignoring us the entire time we were there. At first I suspected it may have been because we were dressed casually, but after seeing other customers in hoodies, this couldn’t have been the case.
We walked in to get seated and nobody came to greet us after standing around for a few minutes. I went to the bartender to ask for a table and it was only after that another staff member escorted us to our table. But before we were even at our seats, another customer came up to the staff we were with because they couldn’t open a bottle and she literally stopped bringing us to our table, pointed to where we could sit and tended to this customer. It’s like she literally forgot about us.
Okay, whatever. We sat down and we just...waited...expecting her to come back to us with menus / explain service but absolutely nothing. We saw several staff go back and forth, serve other customers and not once did anyone look at our empty table and question if something was wrong. I then started to think I just needed to flag someone down or go up to the bar again.
It was only after another table of 2 moved nearer to us and I asked them how to get drinks. One of them said “we’ve been waiting for a bottle for 40 minutes.” That just spoke volumes of what we were going to expect if we stayed longer. So we left.
I had high expectations for this place. As I said before, maybe it was just a bad day for service and I understand external factors could be at play here, so I hope the next visit won’t be as rough.
