About This Pub
Ah, The Metal Monocle – what a spot! Picture this: you're wandering down Braunstone Gate in Leicester and stumble upon this cosy bar that's got that steampunk twist, all brass and leather with an industrial edge that just draws you in. From the reviews, it's clear folks are raving about it, with a solid 4.8 rating from heaps of happy visitors. The music's the real star here – think classic rock, punk, alternative metal, and live bands that crank up the energy, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It's not just about the tunes; the drinks are spot on, with cocktails that hit the mark and prices that won't sting too much. And let's not forget the staff – they're proper legends, making sure everyone feels welcome, whether you're a regular or just popping in for a makers market. It's got that community feel, with events that bring people together, and even a pool table for a bit of fun between sets. On the flip side, if heavy riffs aren't your thing, it might come across as a tad intense, and it can get packed, making it tricky for a relaxed chat. All in all, it's a fantastic shout for anyone up for a lively night, but do check the hours first to avoid any surprises – it's open most days from mid-afternoon till late, giving you plenty of chances to dive in and see what the fuss is about.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant, with that unique steampunk decor that makes you feel like you've stepped into another world – it's warm and inviting, perfect for a night out with mates.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming; they'll make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, always ready with a smile and great recommendations.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including top-notch cocktails, and everything's reasonably priced so you won't break the bank.
-
Live music and events like bands playing on weekends or makers markets add so much excitement – it's a lively spot for anyone who loves rock, punk, or alternative tunes.
-
There's a fun illuminated pool table and the option to request songs, which keeps things interactive and enjoyable for everyone.
Cons
-
It might feel a bit too niche if you're not into metal or rock music, as the vibe is heavily focused on that scene, so it could leave some folks feeling out of place.
-
The place can get quite busy and loud during events, which might not suit everyone, especially if you're after a quiet pint.
-
From what I've seen, there might be some confusion with opening hours or status, as it says it's closed in parts, but based on recent buzz, it's still buzzing – worth double-checking before heading out.

If Valhalla had a bar, The Metal Monocle would be it. Walk through the doors and you're instantly transported into a world where gears grind, tankards clank, and riffs reign supreme. The decor is a glorious fusion of brass, leather, and industrial grit just like a war machine built by Iron Maiden and Jules Verne.
The beer selection? Heavy. Live music and the DJ? Pure carnage. Staff are total legends.
Whether you're rocking leather, lace, or goggles, The Metal Monocle is the place to drink, rage, and raise horns in the name of all things heavy and weird.

Resurrection party year 2 event. 11pm until 3.30am. The people are so friendly and inclusive in there. They make you feel welcome and at ease if you're anxious. Lovely DJ. Gave us a white chocolate KitKat bar. Amazing music. 🎵🎶
