I’ve stopped coming here since my last interaction with the landlord after he berated me for the way I ordered a pint of Guinness claiming “we don’t speak American round here” when I politely requested if I could “get a pint of Guinness please?”
I’d rather drink at Nine Bar or The Castle as they make you feel welcome.
Not family friendly. Came here with our 3 year old in the afternoon to watch some live music only for the drunken landlord to point at him and aggressively shout "what is that?". Son was absolutely terrified. If you don't want kids in your pub then change your license and post a sign outside saying "no under 18s". Don't threaten a vulnerable minor and his mother. Under 14s allowed until 7pm.
Wonderful traditional pub with a nice selection of ales and amazing cider. This in combination with a relaxed staff,under the watchful eyes of two pub cat, creates a fantastic atmosphere and really made my first evening in Leicester.
I occasionally come here for a beer or two. Live music on fridays. Limited but good options on beers. Staff is very friendly. And I love the cat 😻
We love this pub, more than our front room. A real gem in the city, and full of incredible people. Great landlord, staff and the Edna cat. 😻 Always a warm welcome, and a great selection of beers. Live music on a Monday, Thursday and some Friday nights. Worth supporting and keeping alive, given that most pubs like the Horse have long since gone. Long live The Black Horse. 👌
