About This Pub

Ah, The Marsh Harrier – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Oxford, you know? I've heard from a few mates who've raved about their Sunday roasts, and from what I've seen, it's spot on; the food's delicious, with generous portions and that homely British touch that leaves you satisfied. The team there are an absolute delight, always checking in to make sure you're enjoying yourself, which really adds to the warm, friendly vibe. Plus, the garden's a lovely spot for a chat on a sunny day, and it's great that they welcome dogs, making it ideal for a casual outing with the family or your four-legged friend. On the flip side, drinks do tend to be a smidge expensive, so it might not be the cheapest night out, and it can get quite packed, especially on weekends, which means you might need to plan ahead to avoid any queues. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good grub and a relaxed atmosphere, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother visit.

  • Dog-friendly vibes all the way – easy to book a table for you and your furry mate, and they've even got the seal of approval from a greyhound named Maple!
  • A cosy, traditional pub atmosphere with a great selection of food and drinks, tucked away on the outskirts of Oxford for that charming escape.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a tad on the pricey side, which might catch you off guard if you're planning a long session.
  • It gets pretty busy, especially on Sundays, so you might have to wait or book ahead to snag a spot without any hassle.

Been there so many times that I cannot believe I have not reviewed it!! The owner Jimmy is really lovely and the staff are all very caring :) The pub has delicious Sunday roast and they have a great food selection! Drinks could be on the expensive side but the venue is great! I have been able to book it for big group of people and their garden in the back in the summer is amazing as well :)! Highly recommend this hidden gem :)!!!

This is one of our favourite places for Sunday roast. Easy to book a dog friendly table, food served quickly and it's delicious. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Pub has seal of approval from our greyhound Maple, she always tries to go back in after we leave perhaps thinking why we are leaving a place with delicious meat? 😅😋

Have passed many times wondering about the claim of being the “best British roast” and now I have been - I think it’s a fair claim! Busy as expected on a Sunday but they managed to squeeze us in without a booking. Lovely service from all of the staff. Went for the lamb roast and it was absolutely delicious, each bite was packed full of flavour. Generous portions, I couldn’t finish it all. (The photo doesn’t do it justice as there was even more lamb under the Yorkshire pudding) the tiniest criticism I have was that the cabbage lacked in flavour, but honestly this is as close to perfect as you could get for a roast. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
