About This Pub
Ah, The Jolly Postboys – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step in, tucked away in Florence Park with that authentic community feel. I've got to say, what they do best is creating an inclusive atmosphere where families, dogs, and mates can all relax together; it's got this lovely mix of traditional pub charm and a bit of modern flair that makes it stand out. The drinks selection is brilliant, with a rotating array of craft beers and wines that keep things exciting, and the food hits the spot too, especially with those tempting specials like the Tuesday burger deal or the Sunday roasts that folks rave about. Events like the pub quiz add a fun twist, turning an ordinary night into something memorable. On the flip side, though, it does get heaving on weekends, so you might find yourself queuing or needing to plan ahead, and the service can be hit or miss when it's busy – nothing major, but it might not always feel as attentive as you'd hope. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in Oxford looking for a friendly spot to unwind, as long as you're prepared for the occasional bustle; I'd definitely pop in for a pint and see what the fuss is about!

-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from craft beers and lagers to a good range of spirits and wines, always keeping things fresh and interesting.
-
The food is spot on, with pub classics mixed in with contemporary twists, and those weekly specials like the two-for-one burgers on Tuesdays are an absolute treat.
-
Loads of fun events keep things lively, such as the pub quiz or the Rocksteady Roast Sundays, which add a bit of excitement to your visit.
-
It's accessible and inclusive, with wheelchair access and board games on hand, making it easy for everyone to join in the fun.
Cons
-
It can get pretty packed, especially on Sundays, so you might need to book ahead to avoid missing out on a table.
-
Service is generally helpful, but it might feel a tad average on busier days, leaving you wishing for a bit more attention.
-
Occasionally, the kitchen might not be open, which could put a damper on plans if you're counting on a proper meal rather than just drinks.

Friendly community-minded pub in Florence Park, on the eastern side of Oxford. Good range of beers, decent cocktails, good service. We went for the bbq on Sunday - really flavourful, imaginative combo, good salads, & jacket spud instead of the usual chips.
What a wonderful pub! I've been coming here for a few years and the new owners have made a fantastic job of creating a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere with great food, great drinks and brilliant staff to match. We had a birthday party and everyone commented on how lovely the pub was. I'll be back very soon!
An extremely busy Sunday for TJP which made for an absolutely fun filled afternoon what with the choice of roasts and the eclectic vinyl selection spun by Oxford's very own formidable SkyLarkin.
It's advisable to get there early or better still reserve a table to avoid disappointment.
Looking forward to the next Rocksteady Roast always on the last Sunday of the month 😋
Thank you so much for the excellent service from Louis, Mo and all the team 💙

I'm not sure why Google maps have got it very wrong 🤔
I'm looking forward to updating my post on my next eagerly anticipated visit to the JP for the upcoming Rocksteady Roast later this month 😋
Cute little pub out of the way doing Sunday roasts and with wheelchair access. Has board games near the door.
Dog friendly.
Staff are down to earth and helpful and compliant with pretty much anything. It was nice to get a normal roast dinner. See photos.
So there's a ramp by the back door. The landlord is laidback. The pub is quiet enough for autistic people to easily use though there appears to be a dukebox on the other side with poor acoustics, the pub is L shaped so it shouldn't matter.
The back gardens space was lovely and felt not busy even on friday evening which was nice! The kitchen is still closed so cannot rate the food from the pub but there was an amazing japanese van so that deserves a 5 but since its not affiliated to the pub it is 3 for now. The service was ok but looked like they needed more people in service since there were only two of them. Drinks stocks also looked quite low and wish there was a menu for drinks since that was missing. The pims half pint was £7.5 which was a bit steep and wish they checked if i wanted single of double shot since buying pims outside could coat me £15 per bottle. Overall it was lovely and felt relaxing environment but I think there is room for improvement.
