About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Marquis – it's one of those pubs that just grabs you from the moment you walk in. I've heard from folks who've been there that the live music and vinyl collection are absolute gems; whether it's a Sunday session with Tom McQ or spinning some classic Supertramp, it's got that real rock 'n' roll spirit that's hard to beat. The staff are brilliant, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone's having a good time, which really adds to the warm, welcoming vibe. And don't get me started on the drinks – a cold pint of Neck Oil or whatever takes your fancy goes down a treat, paired with some solid home-cooked grub upstairs if you're peckish. It's smack in the heart of Covent Garden, so it's ideal for nipping in after a wander around the sights. But, fair's fair, it can get a bit hectic; no general bookings means you might need to plan ahead or arrive early to avoid disappointment, and if you're hoping for a table upstairs, it's hire-only these days, which is a tad limiting. Still, for a lively evening with mates, it's got that magic touch that keeps people coming back – honestly, with rave reviews like these, it's no wonder it's a favourite.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing with live music and vinyl tunes, making it a proper haven for music lovers – it's like stepping into a rock 'n' roll dream!
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers on tap, like Neck Oil, and the food upstairs in Fagin's Den is home-cooked and spot on for a cosy meal.
  • Its location in Covent Garden is spot-on, just a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square and other London hotspots, perfect for a quick pint after exploring.
  • With a stellar 4.6 rating and a history of hosting big names and events, it's clear this place knows how to deliver unforgettable evenings.
Cons
  • They've stopped taking general bookings, so you might have to turn up early to snag a spot, especially if it's a popular night.
  • The upstairs bar is only available for exclusive hire with a minimum of 20 guests, which could be a shame if you're after a more intimate dining experience.
  • It can get quite lively and packed, particularly with the live music, so if you're after a quiet chat, it might not always hit the mark.

What an awesome little pub with such a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. Everyone in the pub had a fun evening singing along to the live entertainment. Tom McQ is often playing live music there on a Sunday.

A great spot, especially for music lovers. Staff are friendly, decent beers and a team who are passionate about the music you'll hear inside. A favourite meet up place for sure. (Didn't try any food)

We popped in here twice during our 2025 visit to London. Vinyl music plays when there is no live music. Some much to love about the place including Neck Oil on tap.... We'll be back in 2027

Covent Garden pub We had a great lunch and beers in this cosy British music-themed pub in Covent Garden. The food was good and the staff and patrons are super friendly. It's a good spot for a meal and a chat. If you don't have a reservation, you'll need to come early!

The Marquis, Covent Garden? Charring Cross? Wherever! A GOAT pub, spinning the vinyl, today, a healthy helping of Supertramp. Just before Christmas it was a tribute to the Fab Four! Wonderful service from a great team. Never leave your Brittany in the glass washing area! (Top tip) A super visit and a great pub. Thanks
