About This Pub
Ah, Dover Castle Bar – it's one of those places that really hits the spot if you're after a straightforward spot to watch the match or grab a cheap pint with friends. I have to say, the drinks are a highlight; they're well-priced for London, and there's a good variety that keeps things interesting without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is spot on for sports fans, with plenty of screens making sure you don't miss a second of the action, and even when it's heaving, the bar staff manage to keep the service speedy, which is no small feat. Plus, it's conveniently close to the tube, so you can nip in and out without much hassle. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales of staff being a bit off-hand or not particularly welcoming, which can sour the experience if you're not in the right mood. And that bouncer – blimey, some reviews mention him being a bit too heavy-handed, which isn't ideal when you're just trying to enjoy a quiet drink. It can also get quite noisy, making it tricky for a proper catch-up, and without a beer garden, you're stuck indoors, which might feel a bit claustrophobic on warmer days. Overall, it's a solid choice for what it is, but it'd be even better with a few tweaks to the service and a bit more space to breathe.
Pros and Cons

-
It's a cracking spot for watching sports with loads of screens dotted around, making it perfect for game days.
-
Service is impressively quick, even when the place is packed, which keeps things flowing smoothly.
-
Handy location near the tube station, so it's easy to pop in after work or on a night out.
-
The crowd is generally decent, and there's plenty of seating to settle in and enjoy yourself.
Cons
-
Some of the staff can come across as a bit rude or disinterested, which puts a dampener on the vibe.
-
The bouncer has been known to be overly aggressive, turning what should be a fun night into something stressful.
-
It can get a tad too loud at times, making it hard to have a proper chat over a pint.
-
No beer garden to speak of, so you're cooped up inside, which might not suit everyone on a nice evening.

Bouncer needs to be retrained. Very aggressive even after we were inside the place. Made our night worse. Will change the review is this man is able to be be professional.
The place itself is okay, with decent clientele and enough seating.
Staff come across as rude, however, and do not seem like they care at all.
Also, the manager might want to think about having a word with the bouncer on the door. I watched him provoke 3 completely unnecessary arguments with tables surrounding us. When we asked what happened, none of them knew why he (the bouncer) had confronted them. For reference, this took place on the 3rd of Jan 2025.
A little too loud for my liking for a pub. But great drinks. Love the dover combo.
Great atmosphere and drinks on the cusp of being classed as “cheap”. Definitely cheap however in London. Nice enough area surrounding the pub and convenient to tube station. No beer garden.
Had a good experience watching the football here. Lots of screens about. It was packed and yet service was really fast with 5 bar tenders working. Also pretty affordable pints.
