About This Pub
Ah, The Lord High Constable – it's one of those Wetherspoon pubs that feels like a reliable old mate, tucked away by the Gloucester docks. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's smashing for starting your day with a filling breakfast and that smooth Lavazza coffee, paired with a chilled outdoor spot that's ideal for a natter with friends. The service shines when you use the app, getting your drinks over in a flash, and the free WiFi is a nice touch for keeping connected. On the downside, it can turn into a bit of a scrum when it's busy, with not enough staff to keep up, leaving tables in a state and queues building up. Some aren't keen on the food quality, calling it underwhelming despite the wallet-friendly prices. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual pint or meal if you're after good value, but I'd say go midweek if you fancy avoiding the crowds – it's got that welcoming Wetherspoon charm, but with a few rough edges when things get full on.

It's definitely our favorite place for breakfast anytime we come for a visit. What a fabulous way to start a day of exploring with a hearty breakfast, fabulous tasting Lavazza coffee, wonderful company & relaxing outdoor area !!
I had an evening meal here and breakfast. Both were fine.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and free WiFi. Staff really good. I couldn't find the pub entrance at first from the direction I approached ( from the Quays complex).
You have to walk towards the dock area and the pub is in the large event square next to Olivers ? bar.
There are outdoor seating areas at the front and at the back overlooking the river.
You can order from your table by using their app.
Still open Wetherspoons visited #130.
The second and more busier Wetherspoons in Gloucester. This pub is situated on the waterside in the Gloucester Dicks area, a short walk from the main city centre area.
Popped in for supper after a long walk round Gloucester.
The pub was exceptionally busy when I visited. There were no free tables inside on the ground floor, so had to go upstairs to the additional seating area to find a table.
On this occasion I ordered a Sticky Korean Chicken Bowl with chips and a bottle of Bulmers Red Berries. Total cost was £10.32.
Food and drink arrived within seven minutes of ordering.
The food was well prepared and presented, with a good amount of chips, and the Korean sauce. This certainly ranks as one of the better ones I've had.
There was a slight screw up with the order, and I ended up a second (free) bottle of the Bulmers Red Berries. Happy days!
This branch does appear to be slightly more expensive than The Regal Wetherspoons branch in the City.
This branch is in a good location, has a good atmosphere but can get busy. It is worth a visit for affordable food and drink, if you are around the area.
We chose to stay local to here as we had been driving all day. Called in for food and the service was so fast, we ordered on the app and within 5 minutes our drinks were with us. Poretti is a great lager and glad they have chosen to have it as an option. I was on the becks blue, they have plenty of choice for those that don’t drink or doing dry January. Food wasn’t long and unfortunately as my partner was hungry I couldn’t get a picture of his but he had the sticky Korean fried bowl and it smelt fab and he finished it all. I chose the scampi peas and chips, good old classic that tasted good. Atmosphere was good and the ladies toilets weren’t upstairs !! The men’s were however. Only down side I have was tables weren’t clean although empty so staff could do with being a little faster on cleanup and the carpet needed a good hoover but it was a Friday evening.
Spoons is spoons
Same old problem, not enough staff serving , dirty tables , packed to the rafters. Any tables that are available are full of used plates and glasses.
Food, although seen as good vaule really isn't it's the best marketing ever " but it comes with a drink" yes but the food is rubbish.
It's great for a drink, the decor is good and locations good too but there's far better places in the area to visit that's better.
Toilets not bad and in working order
