About This Pub
Ah, Blue Bamboo Bar – it's one of those hidden gems down at the Docks in Gloucester that I've heard folks raving about, and from what I've seen, it's got that warm, welcoming feel you'd expect from a proper local haunt. The staff really stand out; they're so attentive and make you feel like part of the gang, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or sorting out a bigger event. I love how it's right by the water, giving it this relaxed, scenic vibe that's perfect for chatting over a pint or catching the game on those big screens – it's especially brilliant for sports fans. The prices are fair too, with some cracking deals on drinks and tasty tapas that won't break the bank, and that loyalty card is a nice touch for regulars. On the flip side, it's a cosy spot, which means it might get a bit squished on busier nights, and the beer choices are good but not overwhelming. Plus, without a website or much online info, it's not always straightforward to plan a visit, and the opening times seem a bit all over the place, so you'd want to confirm that beforehand. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun night out, with more highs than lows, and I'd say it's worth giving it a go if you're in the area – just keep an eye on those little niggles to make the most of it!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and really welcoming, always going out of their way to make you feel at home.
-
It's got a fantastic atmosphere, especially with that nice spot right by the water – perfect for a relaxing catch-up with mates.
-
Prices are spot on, with amazing value for drinks and tapas, and they've even got a loyalty card that makes it even better.
-
A top-notch spot for watching sports, thanks to the big screens and great vibe that keeps everyone buzzing.
-
They've got a solid selection of drinks and some lovely tapas options, ideal for a casual night out or even special occasions like a Christmas do.
Cons
-
The place is a bit on the small side, so it can feel a tad cramped if it gets busy, and the beer selection isn't massive.
-
There doesn't seem to be much of an online presence, like no website, which makes it tricky to check opening times or book ahead.
-
The operating hours look a bit inconsistent from what's listed, so you might want to double-check before heading over, just in case.

Lovely staff, nice spot by the water, amazing prices!
Booked the Blue Bamboo for our Christmas do. Fantastic atmosphere, great selection of drinks & lovely tapas. The whole team were really welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Thanks all! 😊
Really great sports bar, we will be back!!!
A great place to spend Remembrance Sunday with fellow legends. Great service, great vibe, great place.
Excellent canal side bar with lots of big screens. It's a small place so the selection of beers is good but not big, and the price reasonable too - received a loyalty card after a few visits making it even better value! Food looks good, though I haven't tried it. Great for sports, but with a nice outdoor seating area too when the weather's good. Highly recommended
