About This Pub
Ah, The Golden Fleece – it's one of those classic pubs in Bath that you might stumble upon and think, 'This could be a hidden gem.' From what I've gathered, it really shines as a proper local spot where you can soak up that warm, community feel, chatting with the regulars over a pint of well-kept cask ale. The pool table adds a nice touch for a game or two, and if you're lucky, you might catch some lively music that gets the place buzzing. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a mixed bag with the staff – some reviews mention them being a touch too brusque, which can make you hesitate before heading back. The drink options don't offer much variety, so it might not wow the more adventurous types. All in all, if you're after a straightforward, no-fuss evening in a neighbourhood pub, it's worth a go, but go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a decent time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's got that real local pub vibe, with friendly regulars and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
-
The beer selection might be on the smaller side, but what's on offer is in top-notch condition, especially if you're a fan of cask ales.
-
There's a pool table for a bit of fun, and they've had some cracking live music nights, like that country-rock band that got everyone up and dancing.
Cons
-
Some of the staff can come across as a bit abrupt or rude, which puts a damper on the experience.
-
The range of drinks is quite limited, so if you're after a wide variety, you might end up feeling a tad underwhelmed.
-
There have been a few grumbles about not being able to use the facilities easily, like the toilets, which isn't ideal for a quick stop-off.

Horrible rude staff, went into the pub with my daughter, said we couldn't use the toilets in the pub, it's not public toilets, won't be going back to that place.
Sad life man was drinking from 12 who told us not to use the toilets as its not public toilets.
been in a couple of times after dropping daughter off in nearby student accommodation.
always friendly staff and locals,a proper local pub.
not the largest range of cask beers ,doom bar,a Butcombe one plus one other from memory.
excellent country-rock band there last Saturday night, name escapes me.
always worth a visit.
not expensive £3.90 a pint and £3.20 for a pint of coke from memory
City centre locals bar. Much used and popular with a good patronage by those living close by and students.
On the Cask Marque Ale Trail and the beer, although limited in choice, is in noble condition.
Pool table.
Bit rough around the edges and don't expect a warm welcome, but an ok stop off for a quick pint and a packet of crisps.
Been to this pub now about 4 times to play pool which is good. However the lady behind the bar with red bob hair cut is quite something. Very abrupt and rude. Every time I went to the bar I thought "wow" what a horrible person. And for no reason at all,
Very hard faced ! You will see for yourself. There is an older lady who works there who was quite nice.
