About This Pub

Ah, The Linden Tree – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its cosy feel and the kind of staff who'd make any newcomer feel welcome, like you're part of the gang from the get-go. I've heard from folks that the landlady's a gem, always up for a chat, and the atmosphere's just spot on for unwinding after a long day. The quiz nights sound like a proper hoot, raising money for good causes while you enjoy a few drinks – it's those little touches that make it stand out. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses; some have mentioned the place feels a tad outdated, with uninspiring food options and a few maintenance issues, like the toilets that could use a freshen-up. Then there's the seating changes that've left it feeling a bit crowded and less comfortable for lingering conversations. Overall, it's a solid spot for a casual visit if you're in Gloucester, but it might not wow you if you're after something more polished – still, with that 4.4 rating, it's worth popping in for a pint and seeing for yourself.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, just like chatting with old mates.
  • It's got a really welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint and some good craic.
  • They host fun events like quizzes on Wednesdays, which are a brilliant laugh and even support good causes.
Cons
  • The decor feels a bit stuck in the past, like it's not kept up with the times, which can make it less appealing.
  • Some parts, such as the toilets, aren't quite up to standard and could do with a proper sort-out.
  • There have been grumbles about changes to the seating, making it less comfy for a proper chinwag over a beer.

Been using pub since 16 yrs age 61 now Totally mortified the comfyness of bar I couldn't fault use to have lounge area with wing backed leather high chairs .always made a real comforting beer chat friend s Some body sadly moved that option made bad mistake , gone with banging loads tables n chairs like a dining area . So sat out garden .no longer feels like pub I grown to love .

Stayed for one night, clean room and comfortable bed, slightly noisy but only till around 10pm, only negatives were no TV remote or spoons for tea!

A great location, but sadly stuck in a time warp. Food uninspiring, mens toilet smells like you imagine. There is also a to ‘let’ sign outside. Used to be a busy old fashioned boozer, now still a boozer with little appeal. Beer not cheap as they are caught in a vicious circle. Sad really.

Lovely little pub. Being new to the area last year I felt a bit anxious about going to a new pub, but the staff are all lovely and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The quiz on Wednesdays is a great laugh and raises money for a good cause. Big love to scrunchie.
