About This Pub

Ah, The Lewisham – it's one of those places that really stands out as a lovely hideaway, especially if you're after a proper meal or a spot of afternoon tea. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real winner; folks rave about the fresh local produce and how everything from the starters to the cakes is just spot on. I can imagine sitting there with a mate, tucking into some mushroom arancini or lamb kofta, all while soaking up that calming atmosphere overlooking the golf course – it's got that perfect blend of cosy and scenic that makes you want to linger. The staff often get a thumbs up for being helpful and creating a welcoming feel, which is just what you want for a casual get-together. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; there have been times when service has been a bit off, like not being proactive with menus or seeming a bit uninterested, which could leave you waiting around more than you'd like. Still, with such a strong overall rating, it's clear the good bits far outweigh the occasional slip-up. If you're heading out for a meal or drinks, I'd say give it a go – just keep in mind it might be best to book ahead or pop in when it's not too busy to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious, with fresh local ingredients and a great variety of options like afternoon tea, Sunday roasts, and tasty starters – it's clear they put real effort into making everything well-seasoned and enjoyable.
  • The staff are generally friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home, especially for special occasions like taking your mum out for a treat.
  • It's got a lovely, calming atmosphere with beautiful views over the golf course, making it a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a long week.
  • The location is a hidden gem, tucked away but still easy to get to, and it's great for all sorts of visits, whether it's for drinks, a meal, or just socialising.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes be a bit lacklustre or slow, with staff not always as attentive or enthusiastic as you'd hope, which might put a dampener on things.
  • It might feel a tad hard to find if you're not familiar with the area, as it's quite tucked away, and that could lead to a less than smooth start to your visit.

This place really is wonderful whether it be for food, drinks, or my personal favourite, the afternoon tea! The restaurant looks out over the golf course and to be honest, you would never know it was even here it’s so tucked away. The interior is lovely and the staff are very friendly. The menu has ‘set options’ for a set price and afternoon tea is amazing plus it’s only £20 pp, which is the cheapest I have found! Will continue to return and would recommend it to anyone.

The service from the team was lackluster and not attentive at all. They were not enthusiastic in their manner and it felt that them serving us was a pain to them. When we entered the venue we were not given any food menus and had to ask for this. In regards to service time this was slow given the level of trade and extra drinks were not offered for example. In terms of the decor it is nicely laid out and overlooks the golf course. The food quality was to a high standard and we had no issues at all with what we ordered. Pricing was reasonable with a set 2 or 3 course menu available. Toilets were a little tired and could use an upgrade. Overall it was about average in terms of my experience here. 6/10
