About This Pub
Ah, The Crown and Anchor – it's one of those pubs that really makes you feel at home the moment you walk in, with staff who go out of their way to make sure everyone's happy. I've heard from a few mates that the food is a highlight; those sizzling skillets and affordable deals are just the ticket for a relaxed evening out, whether you're popping in for a light snack or a full meal with the family. It's got that traditional pub charm with a bit of extra flair, and they're bang on with supporting the local community, which is always a plus in my book. On the flip side, it's not perfect – you might run into a wait if tables are reserved or find the service a tad slow on busier days, and it's a shame if the ale isn't flowing as you'd hope. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat, but I'd say it's best to keep expectations realistic and maybe check ahead if you're after something specific. If you're in West Bromwich and fancy a place that balances a warm atmosphere with decent value, give it a go – you might just end up making it your regular spot.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and quick to sort out any little issues.
-
The food is spot on – think tasty sizzling skillets, burgers, and great deals like the snack options that won't break the bank.
-
It's a proper community hub, supporting local charities and offering their function area for free, which makes it feel like a real local gem.
-
Plenty of space inside and a decent beer garden, perfect for catching up with mates or watching the game without feeling cramped.
-
Prices are fair and honest, so you can enjoy a good meal and a pint without worrying about the bill adding up too much.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss at times, with some folks mentioning waits for tables or slight mix-ups that take a moment to fix.
-
Not always reliable for ale lovers, as the pumps might not be on, leaving you to settle for other options like Guinness.
-
It can get busy, and if tables are reserved, you might have to chase down staff to get seated, which isn't ideal for a quick stop.

Went here for dinner with work 9 of us turned up unannounced and there were nonlroblems accommodating us, staff were polite & friendly.
Food came out in good time there was a slight mix up with the order but this was quickly rectified.
Drinks and food both fairly priced.
It wasn't too busy In here when we visited so was a nice chilled atmosphere
Went in for a quick meal with my son. All the tables have reserved and on them and staff just walked past clearly seeing we’re waiting for a table. We had to get the attention of a staff member and then we was able to be seated. Slow and definitely won’t recommend this place
The food was great and absolutely delicious. Probably cooked. I came here 5 years ago, it was the first time I think it's just the way I wanted to go out for lunch in a day and tea in a night. Maybe even occasionally I celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, leavers, wake receptions and more. Including live music.
Can't comment on the food as I only came here for a lunchtime pint. Was disappointing that the ale pumps weren't on so had to opt for a Guinness. The staff were really friendly and nice though, and the place is huge with a decent sized beer garden. Later found out this place used to be the Jinglers which I've heard a lot of people talk about back in the day.
