About This Pub
Ah, Lucarelli Inn & Restaurant – it's one of those places that really hits the spot for a proper Italian meal, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is spot on, with fresh ingredients straight from Italy making every bite feel like a little holiday. The staff are an absolute delight, always going the extra mile to make you feel at ease, and the outdoor seating with its floral canopies is just idyllic for a relaxed afternoon or evening. Pair that with a solid wine list, and you've got yourself a winner for date nights or family gatherings. But, let's be fair, it's not all sunshine and roses – some folks have noticed the portions aren't quite what they used to be, like with the scallops, which can leave you a bit underwhelmed. Then there's the odd seating issue, where you might end up in a spot that's a touch too sunny or out of the way, and without clear opening times, it's easy to turn up and find it quiet or closed. Still, with such glowing reviews and a solid 4.4 rating, I'd say it's worth a punt if you're in the area, just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced outing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious and authentically Italian, made with the finest fresh ingredients imported straight from Italy – it's a real treat for anyone craving proper pasta, pizza, or seafood.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and provide top-notch service, making every visit feel warm and welcoming, just like chatting with old mates over a meal.
-
It's got a beautiful setting with options for outdoor seating under domes or canopies, surrounded by lovely flowers, which is perfect for enjoying a sunny day or a special occasion.
-
They offer a great selection of wines that pair wonderfully with the dishes, adding to that genuine Italian dining experience.
-
Overall, it's a peaceful and comfortable spot with high praise from visitors, ideal for a relaxed meal or even something like a Christmas dinner.
Cons
-
There have been a few mentions of food quality slipping a bit, like smaller portions on some dishes that used to be better, which might disappoint if you're expecting the full experience.
-
Some seating arrangements can be a tad off, such as being placed in the foyer where the sun might be too strong, making it less enjoyable on brighter days.
-
It's a shame there's no clear info on operating hours, which could make it tricky to plan a visit and avoid any unexpected closures.
-
A couple of minor inconveniences pop up now and then, like the odd service hiccup, so it might not be perfect every time.

We have been a few times now, so we must love it, great staff, beautiful setting, options for outside dome seating if booked, canopy seating with beautiful flowers hanging down to inside,
Delicious and authentic Italian food. Good wine choice
My experience at Lucarelli Inn & Restaurant was overall very positive. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained (9/10), with impeccable cleanliness (10/10). The comfort level is excellent, perfect for resting, and the place itself is beautiful and peaceful.
There were a few minor inconveniences: upon arrival, there weren’t clear signs on how to enter—the access is through the side and across the patio, which can be confusing for first-time visitors. Also, with temperatures around 5°C, I couldn’t get the heater to work and there was only one blanket available, which slightly impacted my stay.
I ended up paying £70 for the night because I was told there was no availability through the app (where it showed £58), even though the website indicated rooms were still available. Regardless, it remains the most affordable option in the area.
Would I return? Yes. Despite the small issues, the comfort and service make it worth it.
Had Christmas Dinner here with my little girl it was absolutly perfect. Food was great, Service fantastic. Was a lovely christmas day for us. The only slight downfall was we were sat outside of the main restaurant (still inside) in the foyer and the sun was out in full force which gave my 5 year old a headache. Would recommend something to Try and provide a shade from the sun maybe? Still we loved it. See you soon.
Used to be better. Used to do Queen scallops, but just the normal size ones now. Cocktails are very nice.
