About This Pub
Ah, the Horse & Jockey – it's one of those pubs that really feels like a home away from home, you know? From what I've gathered, folks absolutely rave about the warm, inviting atmosphere where you can settle in for a chat or get stuck into some karaoke or live music. It's especially great if you're into sports; they've got the big games on, and the crowd gets properly into it, which makes for a brilliant time watching the footie with a cold one in hand. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, and it's budget-friendly, so you won't feel like you're splashing out just for a night out. Plus, it's family-oriented and even welcomes dogs, which is a nice touch for those of us with furry friends. On the flip side, there have been a few grumbles about their social media handling – apparently, asking a simple question got someone blocked, which seems a bit heavy-handed and might make you think twice about interacting that way. Oh, and if you're relying on cards, watch out because some things like food orders are cash only, which can be a right nuisance these days. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good time, but like any pub, it's not without its little flaws – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just keep those points in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a proper welcoming spot where you can catch up with mates, enjoy a pint, and soak in the lively vibe.
-
They're brilliant for sports fans, with regular coverage of matches on Sky Sports and TNT, making it a top choice for game days and cheering on your team.
-
Live music, karaoke, and all sorts of events keep things exciting; it's always buzzing with something fun going on, perfect for a night out.
-
The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or staying for the evening.
-
It's affordable and family-friendly, with a nod to being dog-friendly too, so you can bring the whole gang along without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
There might be a bit of a hiccup with their social media – one person mentioned getting blocked for just asking a question, which could put a dampener on things if you're trying to engage online.
-
Some services, like paying for certain food items, are cash only, which means you might have to faff about finding change if you're out of coins.
-
It seems like they can be closed at times when you might expect them open, so it's worth double-checking before heading over to avoid disappointment.

For some reason I appear blocked from the Facebook page of this establishment simply for asking a question to a strangely worded post they put up yesterday (20th Feb)
The post stated other local pubs were copying their posts so I asked how/why E.G stealing acts or word for word as I couldn’t figure out what they meant as other local pubs appear to have their own things going on from what I can see on my follow list. My first post got deleted (thought it was a glitch on my phone) so I reposted and screenshot it. Next thing I realised when checking the page today was that I can no longer find the page which a friend tells me it means I’m blocked as they can see the page fine but not my comment.
Very shocked at this behaviour, I’ve got severe anxiety when visiting new pubs and having been here just before Xmas for the first time, I shall not be returning due to how this has made me feel.
I have attached my “offensive” comment so judge for yourself who is in the wrong. I will also be getting in touch with the brewery/landlord of this place as this doesn’t help my mental health in the slightest.
We popped in of an afternoon on a sunday for a cob and a pint! Atmosphere great and lovely people! Just to note cobs are cash only so we had to rummage around the car for change! Great local! Also great with kids i have a 4 year old and a 4 month old and couple of the locals ended up giving my eldest a £1 for the sweet machine as we had used all our change for cobs!! Very sweet and lovely people! 1000% recommended!
A wonderful bar, always something happening here. Very tastefully decorated throughout. The food is great & well prepared and presented.
If you in the area, check out the live music or join in with the karaoke. Brilliant atmosphere & always a warm welcome.
Went here for a family get together.
Very nice atmosphere,
Had a good sing song on the karaoke.
Can't comment on food as we had a buffet that we brought
Friendly bar staff, (might need the polyfiller after all for the dart board 👀)
Great night old school pub
I popped in early in the afternoon on a weekday so it was nice and fairly quiet how I like it. I had a lovely couple of pints from an ok selection of beer. The service was great and welcoming. I didn't have anything to eat so I can't comment on that, but everything else was good.
