About This Pub
Ah, The King’s Quay – what a gem it's turned out to be in Bangor. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's one of those places that doesn't try to be anything fancy, but just gets the basics spot on. The beer selection is brilliant; it's not just the same old lagers everywhere else, with plenty on draft and in the fridges to keep things interesting. And let's not forget the new owners – they've clearly put in the effort to spruce the place up, making it clean, comfortable, and ever so welcoming. It's got all the right elements for a good night: a pool table for a bit of friendly competition, a jukebox to set the mood, and even tellies for catching the racing if that's your thing. The crowd seems mixed, which is nice – you get all sorts, from locals having a quiet one to groups enjoying the atmosphere. On the flip side, it does feel like it might not be the liveliest spot with only a modest number of reviews, so if you're after a packed house, you might find it a tad subdued. Plus, there's no word on food, so it's probably best for drinks only, and those operating hours could do with a bit more clarity to avoid any surprises. All in all, if you're in the area and fancy a straightforward, enjoyable pint in a place that's been given a proper makeover, I'd say give The King’s Quay a go – you won't be disappointed.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of beers on draft and in the fridges – it's a refreshing change from the usual suspects in Bangor.
-
The new owners have really turned things around; the place is spotlessly clean and feels genuinely welcoming, like popping into a mate's front room.
-
Lovely touches like the pool table, jukebox, and tellies for the horse racing make it a fun spot for a casual get-together.
-
Staff are always up for a chat and give a warm welcome, which adds to that homely pub feel.
Cons
-
With only a handful of reviews, it might not be the buzzing hotspot you'd expect, so it could feel a bit quiet at times.
-
No mention of food options, so if you're after a proper meal with your pint, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, which could catch you out if you're planning a visit late in the evening.

One of very few bars in Bangor that doesn't just serve the same boring beers. Good selection on draft and in the fridges. Proper pub.
Nice enough local complete with pool table. Varied crowd of differing ages helps make this a popular local.
This bar has recently got new owners and they have really turned the place around..Great selection of drinks, pool table and a juke box.
We popped in for a drink following a recommendation from my dad and it was a lovely experience. I really enjoyed my rum and my husband loved his pint of Guinness. The new owners have done a great job refurbing the place, very clean and welcoming. Highly recommend!
