About This Pub

Ah, The Kings Head in Gosfield is one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its welcoming feel – it's like popping round to a mate's for a pint. The staff are an absolute highlight; they're full of banter, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure everyone's comfortable, which adds to that homely atmosphere. The food's mostly a winner too, with options like delicious roasts, turkey, lamb, and even burgers that smell amazing, all at prices that won't break the bank. It's great to see they cater well for different needs, giving space for those who might need it quieter or more accommodating. On the downside, though, service can drag on – we've heard of waits up to 30 minutes for simple meals when it's not even packed, and some grub comes out a bit disappointing, like skimpy portions or things that are overdone or greasy. Still, with such a strong rating overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed outing, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan for a bit of patience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready for a chat and making you feel right at home.
  • The food is generally excellent, with tasty options like hearty roasts and burgers, and it's reasonably priced too.
  • It's got a lovely, relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for a casual get-together or a quiet meal.
  • They handle special needs brilliantly, like offering space and choices for those with disabilities, which is really thoughtful.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, even when it's not too busy, which might leave you waiting longer than expected.
  • Some dishes have small portions or come out overcooked, like tough ham or hard eggs, which is a shame.
  • Occasionally, the food can be a tad greasy, as mentioned with some burgers, taking away from the overall enjoyment.

Slow service. We waited 30 minutes for our meals although there was hardly anyone in there. Ham, egg and chips........three small pieces of ham which were hard, two eggs with hard yokes which had obviously been under a heated overhead and chips, which were ok. This delight was £14. My sister and I were going to share the cheesecake for dessert. No chance, the piece was just about 3 inches long by one inch wide, not enough for a mouthful each. This was £8!!! With portions and prices like this, I don't know how this pub stays open.

This place is truly amazing. We found it completely by chance one lunch time and have been back 3 times since. The staff are great. A right laugh. Can’t do enough for you and make you feel at home the minute you walk in. The food is excellent. Our first lunch was good enough that we had to go back to try their mega Sunday roast (pictured). It was superb. The highlights were the beef which is almost always dry everywhere else but was spot on here and the pork with that amazing crackling. We went back yesterday for another lunch and we weren’t disappointed. Thank you to everyone including Kat who makes us feel welcome whenever we visit. See you soon. M&L

Alright atmosphere and good space, meet some staff are lively and well aware of my partner disable and autism as give good chose for space and quiet, I know it may take longer but respect them as few staff working. Food are beautiful smell as I can't resist but can be bit lot grease for burger but that normal. Price bit over but can't complain of taste and timer just perfect, normal drink and meal just under £20 but if you wanna starter and dessert included that will be over £20. Car park can be awkward but there have over flow space by follow sign around. My final thought that you all should go there with family or mate! Cheer K.

Nice and friendly atmosphere, good choice of food, plus special set menu and reasonable prices. Visited a few times now, most recently for a Sunday lunch, food was very good, we had brisket beef, turkey and lamb roast with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and creamy mash, selection of vegetables and gravy. All three meals were delicious, the meat was moist and full of flavour. Definitely recommend. Has always been busy when we have gone and you should book ahead.
