About This Pub
Ah, the Kings Arms Hotel in Bicester – it's one of those places that really grows on you if you're up for a laid-back pub experience. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the bar is where it truly sparkles; imagine popping in for a pint and ending up in a lively conversation, all thanks to the super welcoming staff who go out of their way to make everyone feel included. It's got that classic British charm, with a great selection of drinks and a welcoming terrace for sunnier days. On the flip side, though, if you're thinking of staying over, the rooms are a tad hit-and-miss – they're equipped with the basics like a comfy bed and a kettle for your morning cuppa, but some bits feel worn out, with stains and small showers that might leave you wishing for a freshen-up. Still, it's in a prime spot near some lovely attractions, and the free parking is a godsend. Overall, it's worth a visit for the atmosphere and friendly service, but keep expectations realistic if you're eyeing the accommodation – it's got potential, and with a bit more polish, it could be a real gem.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
-
The atmosphere in the bar is spot on for a relaxed evening – it's welcoming and perfect for striking up conversations with fellow visitors.
-
Rooms have comfy beds and basic comforts like free WiFi, a kettle for a brew, and free parking, which is a real bonus for a quick stay.
-
It's well-placed in Bicester, close to attractions like the University of Oxford and Blenheim Palace, making it handy for exploring.
Cons
-
Some rooms look a bit tired and dated, with stains on the carpets and signs that a proper refurb is still needed.
-
The facilities can feel basic, like small showers and no fridge in the rooms, which might disappoint if you're after a bit more luxury.
-
There have been mentions of cleanliness issues in places, such as the toilet not being up to scratch, which is a shame.
-
As it's an older building, space can be tight in areas like the bathroom, and it doesn't quite live up to modern standards everywhere.

I used to stay at the Kings Arms years ago but stopped when it went a little downhill. Under new ownership now so thought I'd give it try again. It's obvious they are trying to refurbish as they go but there is a lot of work to do!
There is a large car park and the hotel is very well situated for the town with lots of eating and drinking options within a short distance.
The place is very clean and the communal areas are very nice.
My room was clean, spacious and well-equipped. I had a very friendly welcome on checking in. I am very interested to see how this continues to improve as work progresses and would 100% stay again.
I've only given it 4 stars because of the further work that needs doing (the exterior is particularly in need) but they are definitely heading in the right direction.
The hotel is an old building but quite well maintained. The room it self is just ok, the bed is just ok, no fridge but they give you 2 bottle water, instant coffee and tea, sugar and kettle. There is shampoo and body wash in the shower room. Shower room is small and the shower itself is very very low pressure. The hotel provide free parking but need to inform receptionist for the park.
Location is good and walking distance to bicester outlet.
Overall this hotel is good for short stay.
Comfy bed, room was tired with a number of stains on the carpet, a stick was left in the room to prop the window up. Toilet wasn't clean. Basic hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful - I turned up without a booking (work had booked me into the wrong hotel). Accommodated with no issues.
we popped into the kings arms tonight for what we thought would be a quick drink , ended up staying for a couple of hours.
the atmosphere so amazing, the lady.behondnthe bar ( Lisa) was so welcoming and friendly, she connected everyone on the bar, we spend our time talking to new people , all thanks to Lisa.
