About This Pub

Ah, The Ashton Club – it's one of those hidden gems in Bicester that really grows on you once you're inside. I have to say, the drinks are an absolute steal; you can enjoy a pint or a spirit without worrying about the cost, which is always a win for a laid-back evening with mates. The atmosphere is spot on too – everyone's so welcoming, and there's this real sense of community that makes you feel like part of the gang straight away. Plus, with all the games like darts and pool, and the telly showing big sports events, there's plenty to keep you entertained. They've got regular dos like quizzes and live music, which add a fun twist and make it easy to pop by for something different each time. On the downside, though, the membership thing is a bit of a faff; if you're not already a member, you'll need to know someone to get you in, which might put you off if you're just exploring. It can also be on the quiet side during the week, so if you're after a lively crowd, you might want to check the events first. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or a game with friends, as long as you're prepared for that members-only vibe – honest, it's got its charms, but it's not for everyone.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are incredibly affordable, making it a brilliant spot for a cheeky night out without emptying your wallet.
  • It's got a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere, where you can just pop in for a chat and feel right at home.
  • Loads of fun activities on offer, like darts, pool, snooker, and watching major sports events on Sky and BT – perfect for keeping things lively.
  • Regular events such as quizzes, live entertainment, and even meat raffles add a great community vibe and keep the calendar exciting.
Cons
  • It's members-only or you'll need someone to sign you in for a small fee, which can be a bit of a barrier if you're new to the area.
  • The place can get quiet at times, especially on weeknights, so it might not always buzz with energy.
  • Being a small and cosy spot, it could feel a tad cramped when it's busy, and the operating hours seem a bit inconsistent from what I've seen.

Quiet on a wed night, but brilliant value and choice of drinks. It is members only unless you know someone to sign you in for a small fee

You have to be a member to go in, but we were lucky enough to be invited there. Beer and spirits were reasonably priced, we wanted to play snooker but the hall we being decorated so we played pool instead, had a great time
