About This Pub

Ah, The Kilpin Beer Cafe – what a gem in the heart of Nottingham! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really knows how to do things right. You've got this incredible array of beers, from classic European favourites to local cask ales, which is perfect if you're in the mood to try something new or stick with what you know. Pair that with some seriously tasty food options, like their mouthwatering Sunday roasts or a solid burger and chips, and you're in for a treat. The staff are just lovely, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes the whole experience feel effortless. Upstairs, it's all airy and well-decorated, with spots to catch the latest sports action or just soak in the atmosphere with friends. But, let's be fair, it's not without its quirks – weekends can get a bit heaving, so you might end up jostling for space, and if you're planning a late evening, the kitchen closes up earlier than you'd hope, which could cramp your style. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a good time without the fuss; I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with a huge range of Belgian, cask, keg, and local brews that really caters to all tastes – it's like a treasure trove for any beer enthusiast.
  • The food is spot on; think hearty dishes like lamb kofte, burgers, and the best Sunday roasts in Nottingham, served quickly and full of flavour.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The atmosphere is fantastic, with a spacious upstairs area that's stylishly decorated, complete with posters, plants, large screens for BT and Sky sports, and both indoor and outdoor seating options.
  • It's versatile for different occasions, whether you're popping in for a quick pint mid-week or booking ahead for a meal with friends.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy on weekends, which might make it a bit tricky to find a seat or enjoy a quiet chat.
  • Food service wraps up relatively early in the evenings, so if you're after a late-night snack, you might be out of luck.
  • The place was pretty quiet during some visits, which could feel a tad underwhelming if you're hoping for a lively vibe on quieter days.

Popped in on a Tues at 2.30pm. Luckily they serve food whilst loads of other food places in Nottingham were closed. Ordered lamb kofte and burger and chips. Food was served quickly and was delicious. Decor and atmosphere upstairs is very well decorated with posters, large screen tv and plants. I would recommend popping in.

Interesting beer selection and cool little place with outdoor as well as indoor seating. Was pretty empty when I went, but I get the feeling it'll get busy closer to the weekend.

A bar I would rave about if I found it in another city/country. A good range of cask ales (CAMRA discount). Good range of Belgian beers on draft and bottle. Good range of German beers, draft and bottle. Beautifully restored old building with lots of choice for where you want to sit or stand. Beer garden. As close as you can get to regular buses and trams. Good food. All the boxes ticked. The place I've been looking for from Munich to Antwerp, and it's here in Nottingham. And I forgot to mention the cool music selection.

Best Sunday Roast in the city by miles. Service was perfectly attentive too. I love my craft beers but my family don't, so also great to see that they have such a varied selection for everyone. Already want to come back for more, thank you!
