About This Pub

Ah, Junkyard Bottle Shop & Pour House – what a gem tucked away in Nottingham! I have to say, if you're into craft beers, this place is an absolute treat. They've got this brilliant lineup of brews on tap and in the fridges, all carefully curated, so you can sip on something world-class whether you're staying put or taking it away. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and quick to recommend a favourite, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed. We grabbed a cheese board and a meat platter on my last visit, and they were top-notch – proper flavoursome and generous portions that paired brilliantly with the beers. Plus, the minimalist decor gives it a cool, understated charm, like your friendly neighbourhood hangout. On the flip side, though, if craft isn't your thing and you're after something more classic like a good old bitter, you might find the options a bit slim, which left one of my mates a tad disappointed. And watch out for the food service; there have been a few tales of orders getting mixed up, so it's worth double-checking if you're relying on a meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back afternoon or evening, especially if you're up for trying something new, but it's always good to keep expectations balanced for the occasional off moment.

Pros and Cons

  • Super friendly and helpful staff who make you feel right at home.
  • Tasty food options like cheese and meat boards that really hit the spot.
  • A cosy, minimalist interior that gives off that hidden gem vibe in the heart of Nottingham.

Cons
  • Limited beer choices for those who prefer traditional styles over craft, like missing out on bitters.
  • Occasional hiccups with food service, such as forgetting orders, which can put a dampener on things.
  • Food availability ends a bit early on some days, so you might miss out if you're out late.
  • It has a moderate price tag, which could add up if you're planning a big night out.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with friends to kick off a birthday celebration around a few of Nottingham's pubs. Personally I’m not a fan of craft beer but it was even more disappointing to get the choice of around 10 pale ales and 2 stouts, nothing at all in the “bitter” department. I did try one IPA and it wasn’t a good experience. Worse however were the prices, which were “craftily” displayed on the board for a 2/3 pint measure, so most were around £4.50 - but that’s almost £7 a pint, crazy prices! It was very busy and a good atmosphere, so not everyone was put off; but for me, I’d never choose to go here again!

Terrific, hidden gem of a craft beer bar. Carefully curated tap selection and a vast array of options in cans and bottles. Interior is tastefully minimalist. Friendly staff as well!

Love Junkyard, being a regular spot we visit for beer. Visited 3rd Jan and decided to have some food there for the first time. Big mistake! We ordered a few small plates, but they forgot the chicken wings. We said we still wanted the wings so they cooked them and brought them out. They must have rushed them, as they were still raw in places! I know meat on the bone can be pink the closer to the bone it is, but there were bloody in places! Thankfully we noticed, spat out the first mouthful and left them. They didn’t smell good either!
