About This Pub

Ah, Penny Lane in Nottingham – what a gem it is for anyone after a bit of fun and nostalgia! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really nails the playful vibe with its creative cocktails that come with all sorts of quirky touches, like rubber ducks or lollies, and they're even better with that happy hour deal making two for £11.95 an absolute bargain. The arcade games are a highlight too; think air hockey and classic setups that get everyone laughing and competing, and it's refreshing to see it's family-friendly during the day, so you can pop in for a relaxed afternoon. On the flip side, though, some folks have mentioned the drinks edging towards the expensive side, and the food doesn't always hit the mark – that hot dog sounded a bit underwhelming with its dry bits. Still, with a solid 4.2 rating from heaps of reviews, it's clear most people leave with smiles, especially if you're up for games and drinks rather than a full meal. All in all, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in Nottingham; just go in with the right expectations for a good time focused on the fun rather than fine dining.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are an absolute treat – creative, full of personality, and with fun twists like quirky garnishes, plus great deals like two for £11.95 during happy hour.
  • It's got a brilliant nostalgic vibe with classic arcade games that bring out the kid in you, and they're reasonably priced for a good laugh.
  • The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for all sorts of get-togethers, whether it's a casual day out with the family or a fun evening with mates.
  • Overall, it's a cracking spot for value for money, especially with the happy hour and the mix of food, drinks, and games that keep everyone entertained.
Cons
  • Drinks can feel a bit pricey, like a pint coming in at £6.30, which might make you think twice if you're on a tight budget.
  • Some food items, such as the hot dog, aren't quite up to scratch – they can be a tad dry and not as exciting as you'd hope.
  • Occasionally, little details like special garnishes for cocktails might be missing, which can dampen the fun a bit.
  • It gets busy, so you might have to deal with crowds, especially on weekends, making it harder to relax or play games without a wait.

Great fun, and great value for money! Cocktails were made properly and not rushed, despite being 2-4-1 Tasted fab and an excellent and exciting array to choose from! The venue is fun, and family friendly (certainly during the daytime) Good day date bar! The arcade games are reasonably priced too! Would absolutely recommend.

We visited Penny Lane in Nottingham around 5 pm on a Saturday evening and had an amazing time. The place was busy but had a fantastic atmosphere with a really nice, lively vibe. There was a great mix of groups, couples, and even some families with children. Thanks to the venue’s large size, it never felt cramped, and there were plenty of comfortable spaces where you could sit down for a meal, relax with drinks, or enjoy the big games section. One of the highlights was the arcade and funfair games area. Tokens were about £1 each, and most of the games only required one token to play, making it really easy and affordable to have a lot of fun. Buying tokens was quick and simple with contactless payment directly at the machine. They also had the classic horse racing game where you roll balls into holes to race the horses, which not many funfairs still have these days, so it was brilliant to see. If you win three times you get a cuddly toy, and if you win once you receive a little medal, which added so much fun and excitement to the experience. They also had the classic 2p arcade machines where you could put some change in and play the traditional seaside-style games. The cocktails were brilliant at two for £11.95 with a great range to choose from. The ones we had were really well made and tasted amazing. The service at the bar was excellent, and I wish I had caught the barman’s name because he was brilliant and made the experience even better. The location is really convenient, right in the town centre, and there is a large car park next to it in the Lace Market which made parking really easy and stress free. Security on the door also added to the welcoming and safe environment, making it a place where you can properly relax and enjoy yourself. Penny Lane offers something truly different compared to the usual Nottingham bar scene. Great drinks, a great vibe, and a fun and unique experience all in one place. We will definitely be back!

It was a nice place to have abit of food, drinks and play some games. Unfortunately no ducks were available to come with some of the drinks, that's the only reason it's not 5 stars(I really wanted a little duck as a memento sorry).

The venue has a great theme and vibe. Very 70's/Stranger Things. Order the 3 pig hot dog. Wasn't bad but wasn't anything to write home about. Big German Bratwuest style sausage with dry pulled pork and very dry bacon chunks with a squirt of BBQ sauce.. Pint of Camden Pale was £6.30 which is expensive.. You order at the table via QR code and whilst the service was very fast (especially for a Friday night), there was no check in so felt a bit soulless. Wasn't a bad experience by any stretch but also not a place I'm in a rush to go back to.

This review is solely for the cocktails as we didn't order any food. I found this place whilst searching for places doing happy hour. These guys do 2-for-1 cocktails before 9pm, Sun to Thur. The cocktails were great, I'd come back again as I'd like try everything else on the cocktail menu. The place is a great vibe, lots of people having fun in the arcade space situated at the back.
